As the Director of Software Engineering Corporate Affairs at Walmart Global Tech, you will play a pivotal role in digitally transforming our Sustainability and Data functions. About Team:
The Corporate Affairs Technology team builds secure, scalable, and user-centered platforms that power Walmart’s Global Responsibility, Sustainability, ESG, Philanthropy, Corporate Communications, Public Policy, and stakeholder engagement capabilities. The team supports a broad ecosystem of associates, suppliers, nonprofit organizations, business partners, and external stakeholders by modernizing core platforms, automating complex reporting workflows, strengthening data foundations, and applying AI responsibly to improve speed, quality, transparency, and impact.
This team operates at the intersection of engineering, data, platform modernization, and responsible AI. Key focus areas include Project Gigaton and Sustainability Hub capabilities, ESG Command Center and Market Portal, ESG data lake and reporting automation, Spark Good and giving platform modernization, grants and nonprofit experiences, claims and disclosure workflows, data enablement, forecasting, analytics, and AI-powered associate and business experiences. By partnering closely across Business, Product, Design, Program, Data Science, Security, and Engineering, the team delivers trusted technology that helps Walmart protect its reputation, accelerate regeneration, strengthen community impact, and make better decisions at enterprise scale.
What you'll do:
Lead engineering strategy, execution, and operational excellence for Corporate Affairs technology platforms across Sustainability, and Data strategies for ESG, Philanthropy, and related enterprise capabilities.
Own the design, delivery, reliability, and modernization of business-critical platforms such as Project Gigaton, Sustainability Hub, and other AI innvoations powering the Quality Check process.
Support teams that are building ESG Command Center, ESG Market Portal, ESG Data Lake, Spark Good, Strategic Grants, and related products.
Enhance reporting suites, dashboards, and integrated data products that provide AI powered insights to business stakeholders.
Partner with Business, Product, Design, Program, Data Science, Security, Legal, Compliance, and enterprise technology teams to translate complex business priorities into clear engineering roadmaps, delivery plans, architectural decisions, and measurable outcomes.
Drive platform-centric development by building reusable capabilities, automation, data pipelines, APIs, workflow engines, reporting foundations, and AI-enabled experiences that can scale across programs, markets, and user personas.
Champion responsible AI and data-driven innovation by identifying practical use cases, enabling rapid prototyping, applying agentic and generative AI where appropriate, and moving high-value ideas from experimentation to production with strong governance.
Strengthen ESG and sustainability reporting capabilities by improving data quality, lineage, auditability, disclosure readiness, workflow transparency, and automated ingestion across internal and third-party data sources.
Lead teams through ambiguity by driving clarity on scope, priorities, dependencies, risks, ownership, and trade-offs across the 4-in-the-box partnership model of Business, Product, Design, and Technology.
Build durable engineering practices across CI/CD, DevOps maturity, observability, security, compliance, performance, incident management, cost optimization, and operational readiness for platforms used at Walmart scale.
Develop and grow a high-performing, globally distributed engineering organization with strong technical depth, product mindset, ownership, collaboration, and a culture of belonging.
Maintain strong executive and stakeholder communication by providing transparent portfolio updates, surfacing risks early, aligning on path-to-green plans, and connecting engineering delivery to measurable business and societal impact.
What you'll bring:
15+ years of software engineering, platform engineering, data engineering, enterprise systems, or related technology leadership experience, with a track record of leading large, complex, globally distributed teams.
Deep experience building and modernizing scalable enterprise platforms, data products, workflow solutions, APIs, integrations, cloud-native services, and operationally resilient systems.
Strong technical breadth across engineering architecture, data platforms, analytics, reporting, DevOps, security, compliance, performance engineering, and modern delivery practices.
Experience leading technology portfolios where data quality, auditability, governance, regulatory readiness, and executive-level reporting are critical to business success.
Demonstrated ability to partner across Business, Product, Design, Program, Data Science, Legal, Compliance, Security, and Engineering to turn ambiguous business problems into clear technical strategies and delivery outcomes.
Practical understanding of AI, generative AI, agentic workflows, automation, and advanced analytics, with the ability to identify where these capabilities can responsibly improve productivity, decision-making, and user experience.
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs, surface delivery risks, and align senior leaders around priorities, dependencies, and measurable outcomes.
Proven ability to build, coach, and inspire engineering leaders and teams, while creating a culture of ownership, inclusion, continuous learning, operational excellence, and customer obsession.
Experience operating in highly matrixed environments and leading through influence across multiple functions, geographies, vendors, and partner organizations.
A mission-driven mindset with the ability to connect technology delivery to Walmart’s broader Corporate Affairs priorities, including sustainability, ESG transparency, philanthropy, community impact, reputation, and responsible innovation.
