JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary: 005Z Lead 0005 - Storm Lake Pork Plant
Pay: $28.35/HR
This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordinating the daily activities of the department by ensuring work assignments and instructions are communicated to team members and completed accurately and timely. The Team Lead serves as a resource for team members, monitors production progress, supports operational goals, and helps maintain compliance with safety, food safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist the Supervisor in coordinating daily departmental operations and workflow.
- Ensure all team members are in their assigned work areas at start-up, after breaks, and throughout the shift.
- Communicate work assignments, production priorities, and Supervisor instructions to team members.
- Monitor production progress to ensure production schedules, quality standards, and departmental goals are met.
- Perform product audits to verify products meet customer specifications, quality standards, and yield expectations.
- Monitor team members and equipment to ensure compliance with safety, food safety, quality, and company policies.
- Identify and report equipment issues, maintenance needs, or operational concerns to management immediately.
- Assist with troubleshooting production issues and escalating concerns as needed.
- Promote a safe, productive, and positive work environment.
- Assist with recordkeeping, production documentation, and required reports for the assigned area.
- Provide support and guidance to team members while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Assist with training and onboarding team members as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Basic computer skills with the ability to enter and retrieve information from computer systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate with plant management and team members both verbally and in writing.
- Previous leadership, lead, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing/production environment.
- Exposure to moving machinery, equipment, noise, temperature fluctuations, and industrial conditions.
- Must comply with all company safety, food safety, quality assurance, and biosecurity requirements.
- Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, stretching, reaching, pushing, and pulling required.
- Must be able to work in a hot production environment.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
