Description of Work

The primary purpose of the Nurse Consultant II position is to serve as the Clinical Informatics Nurse Consultant for Cherry Hospital. The Clinical Informatics Nurse Consultant serves as the hospital's clinical informatics expert responsible for integrating clinical practice, patient care processes, and health information technology to optimize the Electronic Health Record (Epic) across all clinical disciplines. The position provides expert consultation to hospital leadership, physicians, nurses, psychologists, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacy, and other clinical staff to ensure clinical workflows, documentation standards, clinical decision support, and technology solutions
promote safe, effective, patient-centered care while supporting regulatory compliance and organizational priorities

The Clinical Informatics Specialist will provide considerable analysis and interpretation of complex data and trends as it relates to the electronic health record and clinical practice, collaborate with other healthcare and information technology professionals to analyze, design, implement, and evaluate information technology systems that enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care, and strengthen the clinician-patient relationship

Salary Range: $66,696- $110,049

*A Sign-on bonus of $10,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval.

The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • The Clinical Informatics Nurse Consultant must be a quick learner, able to adapt to technology, good communicator, problem solver, clinical knowledge, previous or current experience using Epic.
  • Ability to interpret policy and procedure, regulations, software, applications, and operate hardware for the hospital’s Epic use.
  • Preference for two years of experience with Epic EHR workflows, terminology, and understanding of the usage, capabilities, and functionality of clinical tools in Epic Ability to interpret regulations, software, applications, and operate hardware for the hospital’s Epic use.
  • Preference for clinical experience working in an inpatient psychiatric setting.

This Position Is Exempt and Is EXEMPT From Certain Provisions Of The State Human Resources Act (GS 126)

This Position Is Designated as Mandatory and Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
 

*Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.


An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency.
  • DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina and three years of nursing experience, including one year of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.
