Job Description Summary
Manages full‑cycle credentialing and reappointment processes and provides administrative and operational support to department, medical staff governance and committees, exercising independent judgment within established bylaws and policies.Preferred Qualifications:
• CPCS and/or CPMSM certification preferred. If not certified, must be working towards certification and obtain within 24 months of hire.
• Experience supporting Credentials Committee or MEC.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of medical staff bylaws and credentialing standards.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, and state regulatory requirements.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and customer service skills.
• Familiarity with credentialing software systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently

Job Description
Medical Staff Services & Governance
• Serve as a resource to medical staff officers, department chairs, committee chairs, and administrative leaders.
• Coordinate and support medical staff and committee meetings.
• Prepare agendas, minutes, and committee documentation in accordance with medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies.
Credentialing & Privileging
• Review credentialing and reappointment applications for medical staff and advanced practice providers.
• Conduct comprehensive review of primary source verification completed by CVO in compliance with TJC, DNV, NCQA, CMS, and state regulatory requirements.
• Prepare credentialing files for medical staff committees and governing body review.
• Monitor and track licensure, board certification, DEA registration, professional liability insurance, and OIG/GSA exclusions.
• Identify credentialing issues, discrepancies, or red flags and escalate appropriately.
Regulatory & Communication
• Ensure compliance with medical staff bylaws and policies.
• Serve as liaison to providers and internal stakeholders.
• Assist with survey readiness and audit activities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and audit‑ready credentialing and medical staff records.
Collaboration & Communication
• Serve as a liaison between medical staff, administration, human resources, compliance, quality, and other departments.
• Provide guidance and education to providers regarding credentialing, privileging, and medical staff requirements.
• Respond professionally and confidentially to sensitive inquiries.
Leadership & Mentorship
• Provide training, mentoring, and functional guidance to Credentialing Specialists.
• Participate in policy revisions, workflow optimization, and system implementations (e.g., credentialing software).
Additional Job Description
