Description

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Analytics Consultant (Lead AML Transaction Monitoring Model Specialist) to join the Financial Crimes Analytics, Monitoring, and Surveillance (FCAMS) team supporting the AML Transaction Monitoring program. This is a hands-on model ownership role responsible for the ongoing monitoring, technical analysis, documentation, and lifecycle management of assigned transaction-monitoring models. The consultant will use programming and quantitative analysis to assess model behavior, investigate data and implementation issues, support model development, and communicate model risks and remediation needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Own assigned AML transaction-monitoring models throughout their lifecycle, including ongoing monitoring, annual reviews, revalidation support, model changes, finding remediation, and retirement.
  • Monitor model performance and health, including alert trends, population changes, risk-factor behavior, data quality, and known limitations.
  • Verify that production implementation and outputs align with approved model design, including logic, thresholds, segmentation, and intended scope; execute and document model testing and production checks.
  • Identify and assess critical data elements and dependencies; investigate defects and quantify their impact on model outputs.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and current model documentation, including methodology, data requirements, assumptions, limitations, monitoring results, changes, and supporting evidence.
  • Lead analysis and remediation of model issues and model-risk findings, coordinating with development, technology, data, investigations, and Model Risk Management partners.
  • Support development and enhancement of transaction-monitoring models, end user computing tools (EUCTs), and analytical reports, translating money-laundering typologies and red flags into measurable features and data requirements.
  • Execute applicable model-governance and transaction-monitoring controls, retaining evidence and coordinating required reviews and approvals.
  • Communicate model behavior, emerging risks, analytical findings, and remediation status clearly to leadership, governance partners, Model Risk Management, audit, and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience owning AML Transaction Monitoring models, Financial Crimes models, Fraud Detection models, Customer Risk Rating models, or other quantitative risk models, including ongoing monitoring, implementation testing, technical documentation, lifecycle management, and issue remediation.
  • Proficiency in at least one of SAS, SQL, or Python, including writing, reviewing, and troubleshooting code to analyze data and evaluate model outputs.
  • Experience analyzing large transaction-level datasets, reconciling outputs, investigating data-quality issues, and assessing the impact of model or data changes.
  • Experience with statistical analysis, model-performance measurement, feature development, segmentation, and threshold evaluation.
  • Experience supporting independent model validation, responding to findings, and preparing evidence-supported remediation documentation.
  • Knowledge of BSA/AML transaction monitoring, money-laundering typologies, and red flags.
  • Experience translating complex technical analysis into clear documentation and decision-ready communications.
  • Experience in banking or another regulated environment with formal quantitative-model governance.
  • Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field.
  • Machine-learning experience and CAMS certification as additional preferences.

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule.
