Description
SINTX Technologies, Inc. | NASDAQ: SINT
About the Role
SINTX Technologies is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to join our lean, collaborative team. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this individual will own and manage the company's financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function, including budgeting, forecasting, internal management reporting, and operational analysis, while also supporting a broad range of business activities.
As a small, publicly traded company, we operate in an environment where priorities shift, team members wear multiple hats, and everyone contributes beyond their primary responsibilities. We're looking for someone who thrives in that environment—someone who takes ownership, exercises good judgment, learns quickly, and is equally comfortable managing a financial planning process or stepping in to help with an unexpected operational need.
The right candidate will bring strong financial skills, but just as importantly, a team-first mentality, adaptability, initiative, and a willingness to contribute wherever needed to help the business succeed.
While this role carries meaningful responsibility, the individual will have the guidance and support of the CFO, Controller, and other members of management.
This position offers an opportunity for professional development and broad exposure to the business, with direct interaction with senior leadership and involvement in financial, operational, and strategic decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Own and manage the company's annual budget and ongoing financial forecasts, partnering with department leaders to monitor performance, evaluate spending, and support future planning cycles.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial results, including budget-to-actual comparisons, variance analysis, and management reporting.
- Evaluate profitability, gross margins, pricing, and manufacturing costs, including materials, labor, and overhead.
- Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and operational reporting to support informed business decisions.
- Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Commercial teams to assess investments, resource allocation, and operational performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial visibility, reporting efficiency, and internal processes.
- Support financial reporting and accounting activities as needed.
Business & Operations Support
- Support payroll processing, including regular payroll cycles, bonuses, and other payroll-related activities.
- Assist with benefits administration, employee records, and related compliance activities.
- Participate in recruiting and hiring activities, including job postings, candidate screening, and interview coordination.
- Collaborate with team members across departments to address operational needs and improve business processes.
- Provide support for administrative and organizational activities as business needs evolve.
Special Projects & Cross-Functional Support
- Work directly with senior management on financial, operational, and strategic initiatives.
- Support the Controller and accounting team with special projects and process improvements.
- Take ownership of projects outside traditional FP&A responsibilities when needed.
- Identify problems, recommend practical solutions, and help implement improvements.
- Step in where additional support is needed, whether the task is analytical, operational, administrative, or somewhere in between.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a related analytical role, including hands-on experience preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
- Strong Excel skills, financial modeling capabilities, and experience preparing budgets and forecasts.
- Ability to analyze financial and operational information and communicate findings clearly.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and discretion when handling highly confidential financial, operational, and employee information.
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, medical devices, life sciences, or a publicly traded company.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system.
- Familiarity with Power BI or comparable reporting and visualization tools.
- Experience supporting payroll, HR, or other business operations.
- CPA or MBA.
What We're Really Looking For
Technical skills are important, but we're equally focused on finding someone with the right mindset and approach to work.
Our ideal candidate:
- Has a team-first mentality. Willingly steps outside their primary responsibilities to support colleagues and contribute wherever they can make the greatest impact.
- Takes initiative. Recognizes what needs to be done and takes action without waiting for detailed instructions.
- Is adaptable and resourceful. Can navigate changing priorities, unfamiliar responsibilities, and situations without established processes.
- Takes ownership. Follows through, solves problems, and can be counted on to deliver.
- Is curious and willing to learn. Doesn't need to know everything on day one but is motivated to figure things out.
- Balances independence with collaboration. Works effectively with limited oversight while knowing when to ask questions or involve others.
- Demonstrates maturity and sound judgment. Handles sensitive information and challenging business circumstances with professionalism, discretion, and composure, while maintaining perspective on their role and responsibilities.
- Is practical and hands-on. Comfortable moving between high-level financial analysis and everyday business tasks without losing sight of what matters.
Why This Role Is Different
This isn't a traditional FP&A position with a narrowly defined set of responsibilities. At SINTX, you'll have the opportunity to develop professionally by gaining hands-on experience across multiple business functions, working directly with senior leadership, and participating in decisions that influence the company's direction.
For someone early in their career, this role offers exposure and responsibility that may take years to gain in a larger organization. You'll be supported by experienced leadership as you grow into the role, with opportunities to ask questions, learn new areas of the business, and gradually take on greater responsibility. You'll have the opportunity to strengthen your financial expertise while developing a broader understanding of how a publicly traded manufacturing and medical device company operates.
We're looking for someone who values being part of a small team, enjoys variety, and finds satisfaction in making a meaningful contribution across the business.
