About the Role

The Digital and Tech Solution Expert: Operational Finance plays a critical role in ensuring Haleon's Technology Platforms enable our enterprise finance processes to be designed, governed and operated in a consistent, scalable and future-fit way.

The Solution Expert is the enterprise functional technology expert for Operational Finance processes and is responsible for providing deep SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA expertise across solution design, delivery, service operations and continuous improvement under the Solution Owner for Record-to-Decision (R2D).

This role sits at the centre of Haleon's finance transformation agenda, supporting the transition from legacy processes to integrated, standardised and digitally enabled ways of working. The role ensures operational finance processes remain compliant, efficient and aligned with enterprise standards whilst supporting both business continuity and strategic transformation programmes.

The Solution Expert acts as a trusted advisor to Business Process Owners, Process Experts and Delivery Teams, ensuring solution decisions are informed by deep functional expertise, SAP best practices and enterprise technology principles.

The Solution Expert safeguards Haleon's Technology Principles through adoption of standard SAP capabilities, minimisation of custom development, and delivery of scalable solutions that accelerate business value and support long-term operational excellence.

Role Responsibilities: Operational Finance

• Universal Journal and S/4HANA Finance capabilities
• Financial process integration across Record-to-Decision and adjacent finance processes

Solution Delivery

• Own functional solution expertise, standards, delivery governance and technical documentation for assigned Operational Finance processes.
• Deliver ERP programmes and enhancements aligned with global standards and business priorities through internal and external delivery teams.
• Ensure standardisation and harmonisation of finance solutions across markets and business units.
• Support SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA implementation, deployment and transformation programmes.
• Drive fit-to-standard adoption and simplification of finance processes.

Solution Design

• Enable business process design and continuous improvement activities across all phases of Enterprise Transformation (Design, Build, Test, Deploy and Sustain).
• Provide expert input into design authority decisions and governance forums for Operational Finance processes.
• Define scalable and supportable SAP solutions aligned to business requirements and enterprise architecture principles.
• Partner with Business Process Owners, Subject Matter Experts, Data Teams and other Solution Owners to ensure integrated end-to-end process design.
• Assess impacts of solution changes across finance, reporting, controlling and reconciliation processes.

 

Operate Existing ERP Solutions

• Deliver ongoing BAU enhancements and operational support across SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA Finance landscapes.
• Provide functional leadership and expert troubleshooting for critical finance incidents and business issues.
• Support business-critical month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.
• Accountable for maintaining functional integrity of Operational Finance processes including legal, statutory, audit and compliance-driven changes.
• Support lifecycle management of finance applications including upgrades, releases and process improvements.

 

 Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Business Process Owners, Process Experts, Finance Leaders and Local Market Teams to embed and sustain process improvements.
• Ensure effective integration across interconnected processes including Source-to-Pay, Lead-to-Cash, Record-to-Decision and Enterprise Data.
• Collaborate closely with Data, Compliance, Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, Testing and Change Management teams.
• Act as the key SAP Finance functional expert supporting global transformation initiatives.

 

Operations, Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Ensure Operational Finance processes remain available, reliable and effective through partnership with Support and Service Operations teams.
• Monitor process performance and identify opportunities for standardisation, automation and simplification.
• Drive adoption of SAP S/4HANA Finance capabilities and best practices.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve close cycles, financial controls, efficiency and user experience.
• Ensure finance technology solutions continue to evolve in support of Haleon's long-term strategy and transformation roadmap.

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of total experience, 2 to 4 years of strong functional expertise in SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA Finance solutions.
• Proven experience delivering SAP Finance programmes, enhancements and operational support across global organisations.
• Deep expertise across Financial Accounting, Controlling, Month-End Close, Asset Accounting, Project Accounting, Journal Processing, Allocations and Reconciliations.
• Strong understanding of finance operations, accounting principles and financial controls.
• Experience supporting SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA transformation programmes.
• Enterprise-first mindset; makes decisions for the good of the whole organisation.
• High levels of influence, credibility and presence with senior business and technology stakeholders.
• Strong judgement and ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity.
• Collaborative and able to align diverse stakeholder groups behind a shared direction.
• Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-paced environments with evolving priorities.
• Understanding of how finance process design connects to data, controls, compliance and system integrations.
• Able to work effectively with Business Process Owners and Senior Finance Leaders to ensure alignment and delivery of business outcomes.

Preferred Skills

• SAP S/4HANA Finance certification or equivalent experience.
• Experience with Universal Journal, Financial Closing, Asset Accounting and Project Systems.
• Experience working in global consumer goods, healthcare or shared service environments.
• Experience supporting finance transformation, standardisation and digitalisation programmes.
• Knowledge of governance, risk, compliance and audit requirements within finance operations.
