Description
Role
About the Role
From the first impression of a digital ad to the experience of walking into a Financial Center, design plays a powerful role in how people see and connect with Southland Credit Union.
We're looking for a Graphic Designer who brings creativity, curiosity, and a fresh perspective to everything they create. You'll help shape how Southland shows up across digital campaigns, social media, print materials, Member communications, and more—turning ideas into thoughtful, engaging designs that capture attention and bring our brand to life.
As part of our Marketing team, you'll have the opportunity to explore creative concepts, contribute your own ideas, and see your work make an impact across a wide range of projects. If you enjoy bringing ideas from concept to reality and want your creativity to serve a meaningful purpose, this is an opportunity to make your mark.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Bringing the Southland Brand to Life
Great design does more than look good. It tells a story, makes information easier to understand, and creates connections with the people we're trying to reach.
In this role, you'll turn marketing ideas and campaign objectives into visual experiences that connect with our Members, associates, and communities. One project might involve creating digital advertising or social media graphics, while another could focus on designing brochures, direct mail, Financial Center signage, or materials that help Members better understand our products and services.
You'll work across both digital and print channels, applying your creativity while maintaining the visual identity that makes Southland recognizable. From typography and imagery to layout and color, your attention to detail will help ensure every piece feels intentional, consistent, and aligned with our brand.
From Creative Concept to Final Design
You'll have the opportunity to contribute more than finished artwork. We want someone who enjoys exploring ideas, thinking through creative challenges, and finding visual solutions that make communication more effective.
Working alongside the Marketing team and partners throughout the Credit Union, you'll take projects from initial concepts through final production. That includes interpreting creative briefs, presenting design recommendations, incorporating feedback, and preparing polished materials for digital and print use.
You'll also collaborate with vendors on print production, maintain organized creative assets, and develop reusable templates that make future projects more efficient.
Balancing creativity with deadlines, brand standards, accessibility, and business objectives will be an important part of your work. Success means creating designs that not only capture attention but also communicate clearly, support our marketing goals, and strengthen how people experience Southland.

What Helps You Succeed
Experience
Three or more years of professional graphic design experience, preferably in a marketing, advertising, agency, or in-house creative environment.
Experience creating visual materials for both digital and print marketing channels.
Experience translating creative briefs and marketing objectives into engaging, effective designs.
Experience preparing production-ready files, managing revisions, and coordinating with print or creative vendors.
Experience managing multiple design projects, collaborating with stakeholders, and meeting deadlines.
A portfolio demonstrating strong design fundamentals, creative versatility, brand consistency, and work across multiple channels is required.
Experience in financial services or another regulated industry is a plus.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
You'll Be at Your Best in This Role If You...
Bring fresh ideas and enjoy finding creative ways to communicate a message.
Have advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Have a strong eye for typography, composition, color, layout, and visual storytelling.

Enjoy collaborating with others, sharing creative recommendations, and using feedback to strengthen your work.
Can manage competing priorities, stay organized, and take ownership of projects from start to finish.
Are curious about emerging design trends, tools, and techniques and enjoy exploring ways to improve your work.
Can balance creative expression with practical business needs, accuracy, and brand consistency.
- Experience with motion graphics, basic video editing, Figma, or other digital design tools is a plus.
