Description

The City of Lincoln’s Transportation & Utilities Department (LTU) is looking for a proactive, organized, and collaborative Administrative Aide I to support our Solid Waste Management Team. As an Administrative Aide I, you will support daily landfill operations and the Customer Service Assistant team by providing leadership, office oversight, and excellent customer service. Your work will help ensure every load is properly assessed, every customer is supported, and every behind-the-scenes process runs seamlessly.

What You'll Do

This position is more than just paperwork - in this role you'll:

• Supervise staff to ensure loads are acceptable, fees are accurate, and procedures are followed.
• Create and adjust work schedules, verify payroll, and support hiring, training, and staff development.
• Review landfill loads, verify ticket accuracy, and maintain customer accounts and payment processing.
• Prepare daily deposits, conduct bank runs, and oversee general office operations.
• Perform cashier duties when needed, including assessing load types, applying correct fees, and assisting customers.
• Handle special and hazardous waste according to established protocols.
• Maintain organized office spaces, answer phones, and provide information to the public.
• Foster positive working relationships, demonstrate reliability, and contribute to a respectful, team-oriented environment.
• Complete required training and pursue ongoing professional development.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position with hours ranging between 6:30 AM and 6:00 PM. Days and hours to be arranged. Hours may include weekends and holidays.
 
Minimum Requirements:  

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent

  • Coursework in business education, business management or related field 

  • Two years of experience in a responsible supervisory capacity

Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge, abilities, and skills may be considered.
