About the Company

Our client is an established heavy civil contractor specializing in large-scale earthwork, mass grading, and site development projects. The company has built its reputation on quality execution, operational efficiency, and a commitment to safety.

With a strong focus on field leadership and long-term growth, the organization offers experienced construction professionals the opportunity to take ownership of operations and make a meaningful impact.

About the Position

Our client is seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee multiple construction projects throughout Idaho and Oregon. This hands-on leadership role will be responsible for directing foremen, operators, and field crews while ensuring projects meet production goals, schedules, safety standards, and quality expectations.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Superintendent will oversee daily field operations, coordinate manpower and equipment resources, and drive productivity across multiple job sites.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience managing large-scale mass grading and earthwork operations, including complex dirt-moving strategies, equipment spreads, and GPS-guided construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily field operations across multiple active projects, providing leadership to foremen, operators, and crews.
  • Maintain a consistent jobsite presence, supporting morning startups and coordinating field activities throughout the workday.
  • Plan and allocate labor, equipment, trucking, lowboys, and resources to meet project demands.
  • Oversee mass grading, earthwork, cut-and-fill operations, material management, moisture conditioning, and compaction.
  • Establish daily and weekly production goals and monitor performance, equipment utilization, and jobsite efficiency.
  • Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, GPS personnel, and support teams to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Monitor quality control, grade tolerances, testing requirements, and site conditions.
  • Identify operational challenges, production delays, and resource constraints, implementing solutions to maintain progress.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and required PPE.
  • Communicate effectively with project teams, clients, inspectors, subcontractors, and company leadership.
  • Participate in operational meetings to review project schedules, production, staffing, and equipment needs.
  • Support project completion, final inspections, and client walkthroughs.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of heavy civil construction experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Extensive background in mass grading, earthwork, and site development.
  • Strong understanding of GPS-guided equipment and grading technology.
  • Proven experience managing multiple foremen, large field crews, and extensive equipment spreads.
  • Experience directing scrapers, trucks, excavators, dozers, and compaction equipment.
  • Knowledge of haul-road planning, cut-and-fill balancing, moisture conditioning, compaction, and material management.
  • Demonstrated ability to track production metrics and improve field efficiency.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to travel regularly between projects throughout Idaho and Oregon.

Ideal candidates will have experience with:

  • Managing large-scale mass grading projects and significant cubic-yard quantities.
  • Directing multiple foremen, crews, and equipment operators on a single jobsite.
  • Planning and managing complex equipment spreads and dirt-moving operations.
  • Developing haul-road strategies, balancing cut and fill, and managing material placement.
  • Measuring and reporting daily and weekly production against project goals.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation of $150,000–$175,000.
  • 100% company-paid employee health and vision insurance options.
  • 50% company-paid spouse/dependent health plan options.
  • Dental insurance.
  • 401(k) with a 4% company match through a safe harbor plan.
  • Paid time off based on tenure.
  • Company-provided vehicle and fuel card.
