Overview
We are partnering with an established flooring organization to identify a Flooring Estimator for its Baltimore, Maryland operation. This role is responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, performing detailed flooring takeoffs, developing accurate estimates, and partnering with sales and operations to produce competitive and profitable proposals.
Key Responsibilities
• Review architectural drawings, plans, specifications, and bid documents
• Perform detailed flooring takeoffs and calculate material quantities, waste, labor, preparation, accessories, and project costs
• Prepare accurate and timely estimates for flooring projects
• Review specifications for products, installation methods, and project requirements
• Partner with sales representatives to develop competitive proposals
• Obtain and review vendor and subcontractor pricing as needed
• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, and project risks
• Maintain organized estimating files and project documentation
• Support value-engineering opportunities and alternative product recommendations
• Communicate with sales, project management, purchasing, and installation teams
• Support project handoff and communicate estimating assumptions following an award
Ideal Background
• Flooring estimating experience strongly preferred
• Commercial flooring estimating experience highly desirable
• Knowledge of carpet, carpet tile, LVT/LVP, sheet vinyl, resilient flooring, ceramic tile, and related products
• Understanding of flooring installation methods and floor preparation
• Ability to read architectural drawings and specifications
• Experience with flooring estimating or takeoff software preferred
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills
• High attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication and organizational skills
