The Opportunity
- We are seeking a Director of Geotechnical Engineering to collaborate with the Vice President, Engineering in establishing and expanding our geotechnical engineering practice.
Responsibilities
- Be a senior technical leader for dam safety and containment system engineering.
- Lead, grow, support, and mentor a passionate and committed team of professionals.
- Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with clients, regulators, suppliers, and peers.
- Enhance Trace’s reputation, especially in the geotechnical industry.
- Collaborate with colleagues in environmental science and management consulting to facilitate
cross-selling and support business development initiatives.
About You and Your Qualifications
- Minimum of 20 years of experience in consulting geotechnical engineering.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer.

- You are organized, adaptable, and passionate about consistently delivering outstanding work.
- Expert knowledge of geotechnical site investigation, embankment/impoundment design, and dam safety practices in Canada.
- Project experience in landfills, containment ponds, dams (EOR services), and cut-off walls, including the use of geomembranes and geosynthetics, is ideal.
- Knowledge of advanced geotechnical testing, liquefaction assessments, and deformation analysis is beneficial.
- Exceptional report writing and verbal communication skills.
