Job Description:

Job Summary

The Quality Technician works under direct supervision performing inspection, data capture, and operational support activities during mechanical and electric fleet (E‑Fleet) equipment testing. The role supports de‑energized and normal‑operation testing of frac pumps and blenders, assists with test setup and documentation, and develops competencies toward higher Quality Technician levels through structured training and observation. Personnel do not perform energized electrical work and operate strictly within established safety boundaries and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, electrical safety requirements, and Test Facility procedures, including participation in required training, JSAs, and job briefings
  • Always utilize required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents
  • Respect all energized, arc‑flash, and high‑pressure exclusion zones as established by the Supervisor, EFT‑QP, or senior QA personnel
  • Verify and confirm that High‑Pressure Zones are clear of personnel before starting testing activities
  • Use Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions are observed
  • Coordinate with teammates to rig up and rig down frac pumps and blenders in test lanes
  • Under supervision, assist with operation of equipment controls during mechanical load testing
  • Perform visual inspections of equipment during testing and communicate observations to operators and senior QA personnel
  • Utilize approved diagnostic software (e.g., CAT ET) under supervision to monitor parameters and identify out‑of‑range conditions
  • Communicate effectively throughout the duration of testing to ensure personnel and equipment safety
  • Develop foundational troubleshooting skills by comparing observed symptoms, equipment data, alarm information, and expected operating conditions under the guidance of senior technicians
  • Assist in identifying affected equipment systems and documenting the conditions under which a symptom occurs
  • Demonstrate curiosity and active participation by asking relevant technical questions and following assigned diagnostic activities through completion
  • Assist with test lane setup and teardown for E‑Fleet pumps and blenders, including barricades, housekeeping, and equipment staging.
  • Support grounding activities, cable routing, iron rig‑up, and test preparation as directed, without performing critical electrical connections
  • Perform de‑energized visual inspections of E‑Fleet equipment (doors, covers, labels, interlocks, visible leaks or damage) and report findings.
  • Observe generator and switchgear preparation while maintaining prescribed safety distances
  • Assist with controls and software connectivity verification as directed
  • Support load testing activities by monitoring gauges, alarms, visuals, and test conditions and communicating observations to senior QA staff
  • Accurately record test data, screenshots, and observations during mechanical and E‑Fleet testing
  • Assist with managing work orders, uploads, and documentation while maintaining data integrity and traceability
  • Prepare and distribute test result summaries and scope‑of‑work communications using supervisor‑approved formats
  • Check and respond to work‑related email correspondence daily
  • Participate in required training related to QA/QC processes, diagnostic tools, E‑Fleet testing awareness, LOTO principles, and electrical safety fundamentals
  • Engage cross‑functionally with other departments to support QA objectives and personal skill development
  • Work alongside senior QA personnel and equipment operators to gain exposure and progress within the Quality Technician career ladder
  • Perform housekeeping duties and maintain cleanliness and organization of the QA Test Facility, including lanes, tools, iron, and safety equipment
  • Be available to support QA operations during staffing shortages or special operational commitments
  • Actively pursue qualification across conventional QA, QC inspection, E-Fleet support, diagnostic software, documentation, and specialized Test Facility work areas
  • Accept work assignments across Test Facility functions based on workload and development needs
  • Quality Technicians are expected to support work across Test Facility functions according to training, demonstrated competency, authorization, workload, and operational priority. Assignment to a particular equipment type, test area, or activity does not create an exclusive or permanent specialty
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • One year of relevant experience in quality assurance, equipment maintenance, hydraulic fracturing operations, equipment testing, mechanical repair, electrical or controls support, or a comparable technical role is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications and capable of learning required diagnostic and software tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Strong multi‑tasking, time‑management, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and effective collaboration across team
