The opportunity
In this role, you will become part of a multidisciplinary project team and work as an R&D Engineer within a global organization. Your focus will be on the development of high-voltage switchgear and key components, such as circuit breaker operating mechanisms. A key aspect of this role is the design and optimization of dynamic mechanical components and assemblies, ensuring reliable performance under demanding operating conditions.
This position offers a broad and exciting scope, covering topics across mechanical engineering and failure analysis, with strong interaction with materials science experts, electrical engineering teams, and factories. We are looking for technically skilled and motivated team players who thrive in an international environment.
If you bring a structured, creative, and responsible way of working, combined with flexibility and strong problem-solving skills, we would love to hear from you.
How you’ll make an impact
- Design and develop dynamic mechanical components, mechanisms, and drive systems, considering kinematics, load cases, fatigue, vibration, and long-term reliability requirements
- Analyze, implement, and approve engineering changes as part of product lifecycle management
- Dimension and design components based on defined technical requirements
- Plan and conduct tolerance analyses and derive necessary design improvements
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate validation tests, including collaboration with external laboratories
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation
- Actively contribute to global, cross-functional teams and initiatives
Your background
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field, with several years of professional experience in R&D or design engineering
- Hands-on experience in the design of dynamic mechanical components and systems, as well as in the evaluation of component quality (experience in hydraulics is a strong advantage)
- Good understanding of kinematics, force transmission, fatigue, vibration, and the behavior of dynamically loaded systems
- Strong knowledge of relevant standards and regulations (e.g., DIN, EN, material specifications)
- Experience in planning, executing, and analyzing tests and experiments
- Experience with 3D CAD design (Creo), SAP R/3, and technical documentation
- Strong technical mindset with an interest in business processes and product lifecycle
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
