Job Title: Inventory Control Manager
Job Details: Full-Time | In-House
Location: Los Angeles, CA
The Role
The Inventory Control Manager will oversee inventory across the entire organization, from raw materials and components through work-in-process and finished goods.
You'll work closely with Production, Purchasing, Logistics, Sales, and Accounting to ensure inventory is accurately tracked, properly managed, and available when needed.
This role requires someone with strong practical knowledge of inventory management who can manage day-to-day operations while also improving systems, processes, and inventory accuracy.
What You’ll Do
- Oversee inventory management from raw materials through finished goods.
- Establish and maintain effective inventory control systems, processes, and procedures.
- Monitor inventory levels, movements, transactions, and discrepancies.
- Lead physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory audits.
- Investigate inventory variances and identify the root causes of discrepancies.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to improve inventory accuracy.
- Work closely with Purchasing and Production to ensure raw materials and components are available to support manufacturing requirements.
- Monitor work-in-process and finished goods inventory throughout the production cycle.
- Improve inventory accuracy and reduce excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
- Develop and improve inventory forecasting, replenishment, and planning processes.
- Establish appropriate inventory levels based on demand, production requirements, and lead times.
- Ensure proper receiving, storage, movement, picking, and tracking of inventory.
- Ensure physical inventory remains aligned with ERP and inventory management system records.
- Analyze inventory data and provide management with accurate reporting and recommendations.
- Identify inefficiencies and opportunities to improve inventory flow and operational efficiency.
- Create, document, and maintain SOPs and inventory control procedures.
- Work cross-functionally with Purchasing, Production, Logistics, Accounting, and other departments.
- Manage inventory coordination with international suppliers, warehouses, and logistics partners.
- Help improve inventory systems, reporting, and technology used to manage inventory.
- Lead, train, and develop inventory personnel as needed.
- Maintain strong controls and accountability throughout the inventory lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in inventory management, inventory control, materials management, or a related field.
- Extensive experience managing inventory across the full inventory lifecycle, from raw materials to finished goods.
- Worldwide/international inventory management experience required.
- Strong experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Deep understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, replenishment, and inventory optimization.
- Proven experience with physical inventory counts, cycle counting, audits, and inventory reconciliation.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse, receiving, production, and distribution processes.
- Experience working with ERP and/or inventory management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify the root cause of inventory discrepancies and implement effective solutions.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of inventory operations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred.
