Description
The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Nuclear Energy (NE) requires a Special Assistant to achieve success in the performance of its mission.
The Special Assistant will provide full-time support onsite in Washington, DC, or Germantown, MD. The Special Assistant must be capable of providing consistent high-quality administrative services for key leadership, and team support and coordination.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain and maintain the required customer clearance for access to systems, facilities, equipment and property.
Expert knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
Expert ability to compose correspondence from draft to final version.
Expert in the use of the English language as to professional business grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization in the preparation of correspondence, reports and presentations
Expert skills to work effectively both individually and in a team environment.
Expert in use of government travel systems, DOE business processes, and Microsoft Windows and Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Expert in facilitating teamwork and coordinating efforts for the successful achievement of goals.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills with solid presentation skills.
Exceptional customer service and relationship-building skills.
Ability to schedule, plan and lead meetings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides senior administrative and technical support services to key leadership and the specified NE team.
Responsible for providing expert guidance and insight into specific subject areas relating to protocols concerning international and domestic visitors.
Provides analysis, evaluation, and recommendations for improvements in processes managing calendars and appointments.
Mission-critical proficiencies including involvement in travel planning, and coordination to ensure principal alignment in meeting time and scope.
Provide managerial expertise in arranging calendars, and ensuring the staff remain on schedule and apprised of updates.
Constant improvement of communication with the administrative assistants in the NE program offices in Forrestal and Germantown.
Be able to use computers for correspondence, databases such as eDocs, and knowledge of PowerPoint/spreadsheet. Work with the Correspondence Control Center (CCC) to facilitate packages and documents for concurrence and signature.
Maintain a good working relationship with the immediate NE staff and senior officials in the Department, other government agencies, public and local government officials, Congressional and White House staff to gather or provide information, sustain effective liaison efforts, and accomplish assignments.
Brings to management’s attention action items by priority.
Manages extremely difficult and/or complex, highly visible projects.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor’s instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $45.29to $57 per hour, with the final offer contingent on location, skillset, and experience.
