Description
Hohl Industrial Services, Inc. is seeking an experienced Site Safety Coordinator for a temporary assignment expected to last at least six months, with the potential to continue somewhat longer based on project needs.
This is a hands-on, field-focused safety role supporting an active project site. The Site Safety Coordinator will work closely with project leadership and field personnel to promote safe work practices, conduct safety inspections and observations, support training and orientations, identify and address potential hazards, and help ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
Approximately 80% of this position will be spent in the field, working directly with site personnel and leadership.
What You'll Do
Site Safety & Field Support
- Serve as the primary day-to-day safety professional on the assigned job site.
- Participate in job planning meetings and help incorporate appropriate safety measures into daily work activities.
- Work closely with project leadership to promote proper use of equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with accident and near-miss investigations.
- Identify and communicate safety concerns, hazards, and instances of non-compliance to the Director of Safety and site-specific Project Management.
- Provide practical, field-based recommendations to help address identified safety hazards.
Training & Safety Orientation
- Assist with delivering weekly safety talks in an engaging and understandable manner.
- Ensure safety meeting attendance is complete and maintain accurate documentation.
- Conduct job-specific safety training as needed, including topics such as:
- Forklift and aerial lift operation
- Fall protection
- Confined space entry
- Other site-specific safety requirements
- Coordinate owner-required orientations and training programs.
- Verify training attendance and documentation required for site access.
Site Audits & Compliance
- Perform regular safety inspections and field observations based on project scope and duration.
- Evaluate and document compliance with safety requirements involving:
- JSA/Daily Work Plans
- SDS sheets and required job-site postings
- HASP and emergency contact information
- Mobile equipment qualifications and inspection records
- PPE usage
- Walking and working surfaces, housekeeping, and site access
- Rigging and hoisting operations, including lift plans, crane inspections, and required qualifications
- Fall protection systems
- Hand and power tools
- Compressed gas storage
- Scaffold safety
- Fire extinguisher availability
- Hot work and confined space permits
- First aid kits and caution/danger tape
- Confined space entry procedures
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have strong construction safety experience and the ability to work confidently and effectively in an active field environment.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of construction-related safety experience, including experience with areas such as:
- Cranes and rigging
- Confined space
- Welding and hot work
- Steel erection
- Fall protection
- OSHA 30 certification
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations
- Ability to identify hazards and recommend practical solutions in the field
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, site leadership, contractors, clients, and other external contacts
- Ability to read and write effectively in English
- Basic mathematical and analytical skills
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications
- CSM and/or CHST certification
- Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- Familiarity with specialized construction-related software such as CAD, SDS/2, or Tekla Structures
Work Environment
This is a field-intensive position in active plant construction areas. The work environment may be dirty, non-climate-controlled, difficult to access, and may involve inherent safety risks. The position requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities, including lifting, stretching, climbing, and crawling as necessary to perform site safety responsibilities.
