This is a non-tenure track, nine-month faculty position with an initial three-year appointment. The appointment can be renewed based on annual evaluations and performance. Primary duties will include teaching 15 semester credit hours (the equivalent of five courses) per semester across modalities, including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field. Candidates who are ABD (all but dissertation) will be considered, but they must complete the doctorate before the appointment begins. Applicants from all specializations within special education are welcome. A current special education teaching license or certification, or eligibility for one, is required. Classroom teaching experience in special education at the Pre K–12 level is also required as is the ability or documented potential to teach well in both in-person undergraduate and online graduate courses. We strongly encourage candidates with documented record of special education work in public schools; ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our current programs; and a Educational Diagnostician Certification.

We offer competitive salaries and a benefits package including health insurance, retirement benefits, and life insurance. Additional pay is available for summer teaching. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
