General Manager - MRO

Cakum Global is recruiting a General Manager – MRO for our aviation client based in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Role Overview:
This is a senior executive leadership role responsible for leading all Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) operations, ensuring the highest standards of aircraft safety, regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and engineering performance. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will drive strategy, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the engineering division.

Key Highlights

• Lead all MRO operations, engineering teams, and maintenance programs
• Ensure compliance with CASA PNG regulations and industry best practices
• Drive aircraft availability, reliability, safety, and maintenance performance
• Oversee engineering budgets, capital planning, and resource management
• Lead major engineering projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with executive leadership, flight operations, and regulatory authorities
• Mentor and develop high-performing engineering and maintenance teams

Ideal Candidate

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related discipline
• 10+ years' aviation experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Holder of a CASA PNG Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence (LAME) or equivalent highly regarded
• Strong experience in aircraft maintenance, MRO operations, and regulatory compliance
• Proven ability to lead large engineering teams, manage budgets, and deliver operational excellence
• Experience liaising with CASA PNG, CASA Australia, EASA, FAA, or NZCAA is highly desirable
• Strategic leader with excellent commercial, technical, and stakeholder management skills
