Job Summary
Reporting to the Clinical Compliance Manager, Central Sterile Processing & Supply (CSPS), and receiving direction from the Director of Operational Alignment & High Reliability, the Compliance Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the hospital's compliance program while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry standards. This role independently acquires, analyzes, interprets, and reports data to support the Central Sterile Processing & Supply (CSPS) Department, the High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization (HLDS) Program, and related committees in achieving established goals and program outcomes.The Compliance Specialist conducts compliance audits, monitors departmental compliance activities, assists with investigations, analyzes performance metrics, prepares reports and presentations for leadership, and supports the development and implementation of compliance policies, procedures, and process improvements that promote ethical conduct, reduce risk, and enhance operational performance. The role collaborates with physicians, nursing, sterile processing, finance, administrative leaders, and system-wide stakeholders to execute strategic initiatives, validate and communicate data requirements, manage project resources, and support hospital and Mass General Brigham (MGB) initiatives.
A key responsibility of this position is supporting the continued development and implementation of the High-Level Disinfection and Sterilization (HLDS) Program through participation in interdisciplinary tracer activities, evaluation of reprocessing practices, maintenance of standardized documentation systems, development of remediation plans, coordination of committee meetings, tracking action items, monitoring project plans, and ensuring assessments are completed for all active reprocessing locations. The Compliance Specialist also contributes to employee education, workflow optimization, inventory assessments, and process standardization to improve compliance, reduce variability, and promote sustainable best practices.
Additionally, the Compliance Specialist supports Sterile Processing, Procedural Services, and MGB-wide initiatives by leading cross-functional projects, identifying and implementing best practices, supporting strategic planning efforts, assisting with the implementation of information systems and instrument tracking technologies, developing operational dashboards and reporting solutions, training staff on data analytics tools, and providing actionable insights and recommendations that improve operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and organizational performance.
