Description
Student Assistant – Group Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis
Svitzer offers an exciting opportunity for a Student Assistant to join our Group Finance department. You will be part of an ambitious team supporting global finance processes and helping ensure that our reporting and analysis run smoothly for the benefit of the team and our stakeholders.
As our new Student Assistant, you will gain exposure to a broad range of tasks within our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function. Working in an international environment, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and contribute to the monthly financial reporting process.
We are located in Nordhavn and work in a dedicated, fast-moving environment where there is also room for life outside of work. We value knowledge sharing, challenging the status quo, new ideas, and the freedom that comes with taking responsibility. The marine and towage industry can be complex, and we work together to keep improving.
Who we are
Svitzer is a leading global towage operator with more than 4,000 colleagues and 446 tugboats across 35+ countries. We provide sustainable marine services that make ports and terminals safer, more efficient, and more climate friendly. We also innovate. We offer
At Svitzer Headquarters, we work in a lean, flat structure where you will regularly interact with senior stakeholders. We lead with care, prioritise learning, and provide space for you to shape your role and contribute meaningfully to Svitzer’s success.
We offer a truly international environment with a professional, engaged, and ambitious atmosphere, while maintaining a relaxed and inclusive culture where diversity is valued. Working hours are flexible, especially around examination periods, and we expect the role to be 15–20 hours per week.
In addition, we offer a great canteen, good coffee, fruit, a fitness area, occasional social events, massage options, and other perks. Most importantly, you will join a team of professional, supportive, and approachable colleagues.
More about the role
You will report to the Head of Investor Relations and FP&A and work closely within a small team of three, including you and your manager. While based in Copenhagen, you will also collaborate with colleagues across the globe.
Key responsibilities
- Update the monthly performance package, including consolidation and templates for regional input.
- Maintain internal financial and management reports and incorporate improvements requested by Svitzer management.
- Support the FP&A team, and potentially other Group Finance functions, with special projects and ad hoc tasks.
What you bring
We are looking for a motivated student with strong analytical skills, a structured approach to work, and an interest in finance, reporting, and business performance. You do not need to meet every preference listed below to apply. We value curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take ownership and contribute positively to the team.
More specifically, we are looking for someone who:
- Holds a valid Danish residence and work permit.
- Is in the 2nd or 3rd year of a Bachelor degree in a Finance-related subject, Mathematics, Economics, or a similar field, and intends to continue with a Master degree.
- Has an interest in business and financial performance.
- Has strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Power BI is an advantage.
- Approaches tasks with structure, curiosity, and analytical thinking.
- Communicates clearly and enjoys collaborating with different stakeholders.
- Enjoys taking ownership and responsibility and is interested in finding ways to improve how we work.
- Thrives in a dynamic environment and is motivated by the international scope of our business.
- Has relevant work experience, for example from a previous student position, although this is an advantage rather than a requirement.
