Personal Advisor

We are working closely with a local authority in Shropshire to assist with the appointment of a Personal Advisor, on a 3-months contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £18.82- £24.09 per hour

Summary:

The Personal Advisor plays a vital role within the Leaving Care Service by supporting young people transitioning from care into independent adulthood. The postholder manages a diverse and complex caseload of care leavers, including unaccompanied asylum-seeking children, young people with unresolved immigration status, and those with disabilities. 

Responsibilities:

• Manage a complex and diverse caseload of care leavers, ensuring support is tailored to individual circumstances and statutory responsibilities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for allocated young people, providing practical advice, emotional support and guidance throughout their transition to adulthood.
• Assist care leavers in accessing suitable accommodation, education, employment, apprenticeships, training, health services and financial support.
• Prepare clear, concise and evidence-based reports, assessments and documentation for reviews, meetings and statutory processes.
• Identify safeguarding concerns, assess risks and take appropriate action in accordance with safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics.
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care, Youth Work, Advice and Guidance, Community Work or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Essentials:

• Experience supporting vulnerable children, young people or young adults.
• Experience undertaking assessments and developing person-centred support plans.
• Knowledge of legislation, statutory guidance and best practice relating to care leavers and corporate parenting responsibilities.
• Understanding of safeguarding children and vulnerable young people.
• Knowledge of issues affecting care leavers, including housing, education, employment, health, finance and independent living.

• You should have right to work in U.K
• This role requires an Enhanced DBS
