To strengthen our Application and Development Team, based in Nivelles, Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Junior Application Engineer Glass (VIE).
About the role
Aligned with the market trend towards the decarbonization of the industry, Lhoist has been pioneering the development of new products and processes. These innovations undergo rigorous testing at the laboratory scale before being scaled up for industrial implementation at different partners in France and Europe. Our Glass Application team is currently looking for a junior Application Engineer to support us in the journey from the identification of the market needs, the ideation and the laboratory development to the production and the on-site testing at client facilities. The primary objective will be to take part in the implementation of the innovative solutions on the field and to support laboratory activities and transform the innovations into tangible business successes.
As a Junior Application Engineer Glass (VIE), you will report to the Global Application Director Glass and be part of the Application team. You will be responsible for supporting it on the ongoing projects focused on the glass market.
Your role and responsibilities:
Contribute to the implementation at industrial scale of the innovative solutions and developments related to the glass industry.
Actively participate in organizing and conducting industrial trials (in France & Europe)
Actively participate in the organization and conduct of the field testing of these solutions and developments, at customer side
Contribute to the planification and development of new lab methodologies, experimental plans, conduct lab tests, interpret the results, and communicate them to several stakeholders within the organization.
Support ongoing CAPEX projects, continuously improve lab practices and methods, write protocols and conduct risk assessments.
Conduct market research and intelligence, IP survey, identifying innovative ideas and opportunities for improvement and communicating them to internal and external stakeholders.
About you:
You are eligible for V.I.E. program (EU/EEA, Monaco or French nationality, aged 18-28, and compliant with applicable national service obligations).
You hold a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials engineering or related field.
Specialization in glass, prior internships and some knowledge of glass market and technologies are plus.
Business minded, hold a business mindset and able to develop trust-based and professional relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally.
You are a data driven person: Proficient on MS Excel and Word and any additional knowledge in data/statistical tools.
You know the basics of project management and capable to actively participate in a project, respecting the phases, milestones, deadlines and stakeholders.
You are eager to learn from the experts around you and be autonomous when necessary.
You have full professional proficiency in English. French or another language is a plus.
You can start anytime between September and December 2026.
