Role Title: Regional RFQ Specialist (Asia Support – India, South East Asia, South Korea, Japan, Australia)

Location: Chennai, Bangalore or Mumbai, India

Department: Regional Sales Support

Reporting To: Sales Director APAC

Summary of Role

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented, commercially minded, and technically proficient Regional RFQ Specialist to join our team at the Chennai Systems Engineering Centre (SEC). In this role, you will act as the dedicated expert on our Solution Engineering Centre capabilities, supporting regional RFQs and preparing technical/commercial proposals for Asia-based sales teams and customers. You will serve as the crucial technical interface between regional sales organizations, engineering, and production—analyzing complex customer specifications, developing competitive cost estimates, and designing hazardous area/explosion-protected electro-mechanical and LV panel solutions to drive regional business growth.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

1. Regional Proposal & RFQ Management (Asia Region)

·         Act as the central 2nd level technical support interface for the Asia-wide sales network and regional sales organizations.

·         Prepare accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates, technical proposals, and formal RFQ submissions for explosion-protected electro-mechanical solutions and LV electrical panels.

·         Ensure all quotations and RFQs are completed accurately and submitted within agreed timelines and regional KPI targets.

2. Technical Analysis & Solution Design

·         Review and technically qualify customer specifications, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, mechanical drawings, and international standards.

·         Select suitable electrical components, switchgear, and enclosure configurations tailored to specific customer/project requirements in explosive gas or dust environments.

·         Develop basic general arrangement (GA) drawings, preliminary solution designs, and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs) for junction boxes, motor starter panels, and LV panel solutions.

·         Perform technical feasibility studies and calculations to support customer quotations.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Interface

·         Collaborate closely with Regional Sales, Local Engineering, R&D, Product Management, and Production teams to ensure technical and commercial compliance.

·         Support regional sales teams in pricing strategies, price-finding situations, and technical query resolution.

·         Directly (or via regional sales teams) interact with Asia-based clients to clarify technical requirements and present engineered proposals.

Role Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

·         Education: Bachelor’s Degree, or B.Tech in Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering.

·         Experience:

o    5+ years of relevant experience in pre-sales support, electrical panel design, estimation, or costing.

·         Prior experience in a 2nd-level technical sales support or pre-sales engineering role for control, instrumentation, or electro-mechanical products is highly preferred.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

·         Hazardous Area Knowledge: Familiarity with explosion-protected equipment (Ex-d, Ex-e, etc.) and global standards (e.g., IECEx, ATEX) for explosive gas or dust atmospheres.

·         Electrical & Mechanical Literacy: Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze wiring schematics, mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and single-line diagrams (SLDs).

·         Product Expertise: Deep understanding of Low Voltage (LV) electrical panels, motor starter panels, switchgear, and junction box configurations.

·         Software Proficiency:

o    Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word).

o    Knowledge of AutoCAD / 2D Electro-CAD tools or ERP systems is a strong advantage.

Soft Skills & Competencies

·         Communication: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills; comfortable acting as a regional bridge between engineering and international sales offices.

·         Commercial Acumen: Ability to balance technical compliance with cost-effective engineering.

·         Detail-Oriented & Organized: Proven ability to manage multiple regional queries simultaneously under tight deadlines.
