Lead Data Strategist

The Strategy team is a multidisciplinary group that partners directly with the firm's businesses to identify, design, and lead value-creating strategic business initiatives. We enable the development of new businesses, engage in special projects, and support the firm's strategic planning process. We also source, negotiate, and manage the firm's data assets, building a unified foundation that supports our investment professionals and the firm's growing data and AI ambitions.

What you'll do

• Shape the firm’s data strategy by identifying differentiated data and research sources that can inform investment decision-making.
• Lead evaluations of new data ecosystems, translating market developments into actionable sourcing opportunities for research and investment teams.
• Manage strategic relationships with external data and research providers, ensuring service quality, contract alignment, and continued relevance to investment needs.
• Partner with investment professionals to understand research priorities, assess content requirements, and connect teams with high-value data resources.
• Coordinate onboarding for new content providers by aligning stakeholders, negotiating business terms, and guiding approvals through completion.
• Collaborate with Compliance and internal partners to evaluate new providers and support ongoing oversight of existing relationships.
• Monitor the evolving data market to identify emerging providers, pricing trends, and innovative research capabilities.
• Field questions and requests from investment teams, resolving issues and helping users navigate available data and research services.
• Guide team members by sharing market knowledge, reinforcing quality standards, and supporting consistent execution across sourcing workflows.

What's required

• 4-6 years of experience in alternative data, financial services, or a related data strategy role.
• Bachelor's degree with strong academic performance.
• Experience negotiating contract terms, commercial terms, and pricing for data or research services.
• Strong understanding of data and research provider ecosystems relevant to investment or financial services teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain data opportunities and provider considerations.
• High attention to detail and a consistent commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills applied to sourcing, evaluation, and relationship-management challenges.
• Ability to work closely and effectively across our investment, research, compliance, legal, and finance teams.
• Leadership skills and the ability to guide team members through complex workflows and stakeholder interactions.

The annual base salary range for this role is $185,000-$225,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
