You will perform biochemistry testing while providing advanced technical expertise across analytical methods, laboratory investigations, and process improvements. The role will work independently on complex operational and technical issues, influence solutions across the laboratory and related functions, and lead medium-scale projects without formal people-management responsibility.
Your Responsibilities:
- Perform and review biochemistry testing, including in-process, release, raw-material, stability, and specialized analytical testing, in accordance with approved procedures and applicable quality requirements.
- Serve as a technical subject-matter expert for analytical methods, laboratory equipment, reagents, and data generated through QC testing; support method validation, method transfer, and ongoing method performance.
- Lead complex troubleshooting and laboratory investigations, including out-of-specification results, deviations, and change controls, and develop scientifically sound corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and other laboratory stakeholders to resolve non-standard issues and deliver solutions that support site priorities.
- Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes, procedures, equipment effectiveness, training, and compliance; influence colleagues to adopt sustainable improvements and support audit readiness.
What You Need to Succeed (minimum qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a closely related field, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience performing quality control testing in a biochemistry or analytical laboratory.
- Comprehensive knowledge of analytical laboratory methods, laboratory investigations, and the interpretation and review of QC data.
- Ability to anticipate and resolve complex technical or operational problems independently and provide credible guidance to colleagues.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and lead project activities without formal supervisory authority.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications):
- Experience with high-performance liquid chromatography and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.
- Experience using Empower and/or SoftMax software.
- Experience with analytical method validation, method transfer, or stability programs.
- Experience leading deviations, out-of-specification investigations, change controls, or other quality events in a regulated laboratory.
- Experience training laboratory personnel or leading improvements involving multiple teams.
Additional Information:
- Travel: <10%
- Location: Elwood, Kansas (24/7 manufacturing site)
