About this Role:
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize enterprise data products and data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on developing scalable, high-quality data solutions that support analytics, operational reporting, regulatory reporting, and business decision-making. The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering practices with expertise in modern data engineering, data modeling, data quality, and performance optimization.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable batch and near real-time data pipelines using GCP technologies.
- Build and enhance enterprise data products using BigQuery and other GCP data services.
- Develop data transformation logic, business rules, and reusable frameworks using Python and SQL.
- Design and optimize data models to support analytical, regulatory, and operational reporting needs.
- Implement BigQuery partitioning and clustering strategies to improve query performance and reduce processing costs.
- Perform data analysis and profiling to support solution design, root cause analysis, and data quality remediation.
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Ensure data quality, governance, lineage, and compliance requirements are incorporated into delivered solutions.
- Perform query optimization, performance tuning, and troubleshooting of large-scale data workloads.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- 4+ years of Data Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing enterprise data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- 3 years of experience with Python and SQL
- 2 years of experience with BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, and Cloud Composer.
- 3 years of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and data transformation principles
Desired Qualifications:
- Google Professional Data Engineer certification.
- Experience delivering large-scale enterprise data products and analytical solutions.
- Experience supporting Finance, Risk, Regulatory, Banking, or Lending data domains.
- Experience with data quality frameworks and data observability practices.
- Experience implementing metadata lineage and data governance solutions.
- Knowledge of Data Mesh, Data Products, and modern data architecture patterns.
- Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Experience optimizing high-volume datasets supporting multi-terabyte analytical workloads.
- Proven ability to improve performance and reduce costs through effective data design, partitioning, clustering, and query optimization.
- Experience working within Agile delivery teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
