  • 9–12 Month Contract Assignment
  • Pay: $35–$45 per hour, based on experience
  • Per Diem: $100 per day
  • Currently Working 6x10s | Approximately 60 Hours per Week

F.D. Thomas is seeking QC Technicians to join our team on a large-scale project at a nuclear site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As a QC Technician, you'll be a key part of our project team, helping to ensure work meets contract requirements, project specifications, approved procedures, and F.D. Thomas' quality standards.

  • Quality Control & Inspection
  • Implement and support the project's QA/QC Program
  • Perform and document field inspections throughout various stages of work
  • Verify completed work complies with project plans, specifications, approved procedures, and applicable quality requirements
  • Complete required daily QA/QC reports and inspection documentation
  • Identify, document, and communicate work that does not meet project requirements
  • Work with field leadership to ensure deficient or substandard work is properly corrected
  • Monitor work in progress and proactively identify potential quality issues before they impact production
  • Maintain accurate and traceable quality documentation, inspection records, and supporting reports
  • Verify that required inspections and quality checkpoints are completed and properly documented
  • Coordinate with project supervision regarding testing, inspections, deficiencies, and corrective actions
  • Support resolution and documentation of quality-related discrepancies and nonconforming work
  • Verify that materials received at the project correspond with applicable purchase orders, specifications, and project requirements as assigned
  • Help ensure measuring and inspection equipment used for QC activities is appropriate and has current calibration documentation when required
  • Field & Production Support
  • Work with the General Superintendent to plan and outline production requirements
  • Monitor material delivery schedules to help ensure manpower and materials are available when and where needed
  • Monitor equipment needs and labor performance to help maintain continuous production
  • Identify and promptly report customer requests that fall outside the contracted scope of work
  • Complete required daily field reports

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attend pre-construction meetings as required
  • Participate in operations and safety meetings as needed
  • Attend required jobsite and project meetings
  • Coordinate with field leadership regarding quality and production concerns
  • Maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with colleagues, supervisors, customers, and project stakeholders
  • Support project leadership with additional field and quality documentation as required

QUALITY IN THE FIELD

This isn't a desk-only QC position.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable being in the field, observing the work, communicating with craft and supervision, documenting results, and addressing quality concerns as they arise.

You'll work closely with:

  • Project and field leadership
  • General Superintendent
  • Craft supervision
  • Safety/EHS
  • Project management
  • Subcontractors
  • Quality personnel
  • Customer/project representatives, as required

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Successful candidates should bring a combination of technical knowledge, strong documentation skills, attention to detail, and field experience.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Previous Quality Control or Quality Assurance experience in industrial construction
  • Experience performing inspections and completing QC documentation in a field environment
  • Ability to interpret project specifications, drawings, work packages, procedures, and quality requirements
  • Understanding of inspection and documentation processes
  • Industrial coatings, painting, concrete restoration, or specialty construction experience is highly desirable
  • Familiarity with surface preparation and coating application processes is a plus
  • Experience documenting and tracking deficiencies and corrective actions
  • Familiarity with inspection/testing equipment and calibration requirements
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent written communication and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with craft employees, supervision, management, customers, and inspectors
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced project environment
  • Comfortable working independently while also being part of a larger project team
  • Ability and willingness to work a combination of day and night shifts
  • Commitment to complying with all project safety, security, quality, and site-access requirements
  • Industrial Coatings Experience Highly Preferred
