Position: Forklift Driver/Shipping and Receiving 

Shift: 6am to 2pm / 2pm to 10pm 

Reports to: Plant Supervisor

Attributes:

  • Must arrive at work on time and be available for all assigned duties.

  • Must be able to follow direction from direct supervision and/or management.
  • Must be able to read and understand the master work instructions (master traveler).

  • Must obey all safety/ company policies and procedures as required by the company, state, and federal government.

Prerequisite:

  • Ability bodied to lift up to 50 pounds of material in a safe manner without injury to one's self.
  • Must have a high school degree or equivalent educational background
  • Must have completed and passed required safety training provided by the company

Objective:

Employee will effectively and efficiently operator the designated fork truck for the designated area (Shipping and/or
Receiving) in a safe and proper manner to meet the quality, safety and production goals established by the company.


Overall Job Function / Role:

  • Adhere and promote safe work habits and follow all company policies, state and federal regulatory laws, and procedures
    including but not limited to a drug and alcohol free work place
  • Any duties and/or tasks as assigned by direct supervisor and/or management
  • Operate equipment in a safe and legal manner at all times making sure of your surroundings
  • Report any and all mechanical or safety issues promptly to your direct supervisor and/or maintenance.

Job Tasks:

  • Inspect the production order being load / unloaded for any type of foreign material, excessive oil, and/or rust. If any
    found, contact the quality department.
  • All production orders received and/or completed are required to be weighed to make sure they are conforming to the
    customer supplied paperwork. Any and all discrepancies will need the proper form completed and provided to the
    shipping/receiving department for further disposition.
  • Complete all required company forms and production documentation thoroughly
    Ensure customer containers are prepared with the required customer specific liner(s) – paper or plastic- as listed on the
    work instruction. If not, return to the production line they came from to be adjusted accordingly.
  • Ensure internal/ customer containers are filled properly/ and not above the "Fill Line" and/or 2-4 inches below the top rim
    of the container for all containers and the product is level.
  • Ensure the internal/ customer containers that have a plastic liner are covered to the best of the liners ability to reduce
    other contaminates from entering the container.
  • Ensure the production orders are stacked in a chronological order not exceeding 4 containers in height.
  • Ensure the Tractor trailer wheels are choked before entering the trailer to unload / load product.
  • Ensure when loading or unloading that no more than three containers are on the fork lift forks at one time when entering or exiting a tractor trailer.
  • Ensure work instructions are completed with all the proper sign-offs indicated for each step of the process.
  • Initially verify the contents of the tractor trailer (number of containers) against the supplied paperwork. Paperwork has to
    be received for the produce entering or exiting the facility.
  • Operate in tandem with either the company truck driver and/or the customer truck driver to properly load and unload the
    required production orders.
  • Operate the designated fork truck in an effective and efficient manner following all safety measures
  • Read and understand all procedures associated with your job description
  • Read and understand all work instructions as required
  • Store internal / customer containers in a systematic order. No more than 4 containers stacked. Make sure container
    numbers/ container tags are clearly visible.
  • Use the floor scale and the required equipment in a proper manner.
