About This Role

TD Securities Payments Workflow Technology team is looking for a senior mainframe developer to implement solutions in alignment with the firm’s technology strategy. The team is responsible for providing technology solutions around the Payments distributed workflow applications.

 

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for detailed technical design, development, and maintenance of applications on the mainframe platform. This includes (and not limited to); conduct impact analysis, design & code programs; create & execute test cases and participate in the implementation & verification of the application changes.This is for both online and batch mainframe applications.

• Prime responsibility will be to develop detailed design specifications, perform detailed impact analysis across all applications, create and/or modify code, unit test the changes and promote to higher environments. The resource will work closely with other team members to ensure consistency in coding standards and align with TDS’s strategies. Always looking for ways to optimize any synergy and re-use opportunities.

• Responsible for leading technical aspects of project from inception through to deployment. Participate in analysis and system design specification sessions. Documentation of design options and solutions according to System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodology or Agile methodology. Ensure that solutions adhere to development best practices and architectural principles.

• Apply analytical skills to resolve problems and deliver viable solutions. Anticipate obstacles, overcome obstacles and execute proactive approaches to issues. Active participation in issue resolution.

 

• Provide detailed development estimates to Project Manager for development effort as well as weekly status reporting for budget forecasting.

 

• Configuration / coordination management for the sub projects within a deployment release.

 

• Responsible for coding, testing, packaging, deployment, and support of builds as code is promoted from development, system, acceptance, and production environments. Prepare for and participate in code reviews.

 

• Work closely with System Test Environment Management Team (TEMT) to ensure that environments are fully functional and that builds are deployed properly.  Data set up and environment shakes down.

 

• Participate in development of test strategy, test plans, test cases and testing efforts (unit testing and integration testing of code, support higher level testing – SIT & PAT).

 

• Provide technical support to business and testing teams during testing phases. Track defects, defect triage and resolution.

 

• Coaching / mentoring junior developers.

Technical Skills: 

• Undergraduate Degree or Technical Certificate.
• 5-8 years' experience with substantial project work in software development.
• Must have strong skills and working experience in mainframe MVS, TSO, COBOL, JCL, Mainframe utilities, Endevor, CA-7, MQ and databases such as DB2 and IMS DB/DC.
• Readiness and motivation (as senior or lead developer and valued subject matter expert) to address and resolve highly complex and multifaceted development-related issues.
• Solid experience and Knowledge in these areas of discipline, analysis, design activities, software support, development of technical solutions, testing and best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong academic background (e.g., computer science, engineering).
• Collaboration Tools – Confluence and JIRA.
• Ability to adapt Agile processes and to changing business needs.
• Advanced knowledge of specific domain or range of engineering frameworks, technology, tools, processes and procedures, as well as organization issues.
• Commitment to and belief in the quality of your deliverables.
• Ability to work independently under minimal guidance.
• Subject matter expertise and ability to share with less experienced colleagues.
• Capacity and confidence to solve complex problems and take a new perspective on existing solutions.
• Knowledge of Wire payments, SWIFT MT messages, SWIFT ISO MX messages are an asset.
