THIS POSITION COVERS A NIGHT SHIFT WORK SCHEDULE
Position Summary: The IT Systems Administrator is responsible for supporting the night shift operation, maintenance, analysis, and continuous improvement of information technology systems and manufacturing technologies at Magna Seating South Carolina. Serves as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues and provides advanced support for manufacturing systems, infrastructure, databases, and business applications. Evaluates current and future IT needs, collaborates with operating departments, vendors, and corporate support teams to resolve issues, improve system reliability, and support business continuity. Requires advanced knowledge of desktop applications, manufacturing systems, network infrastructure, SQL reporting, Windows and Linux operating systems, and enterprise technology support.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure a safe work environment by complying with all EHS policies and procedures.
- Ensure conformance to IATF 16949 quality management standards is sustained.
- Maintain process procedures and documentation, identify and recommend appropriate updates, and keep accurate supporting records in accordance with company standards.
- Ensures the reliable operation and continuous improvement of manufacturing systems, LAN, WLAN, desktop computers, shop floor terminals, and related IT infrastructure.
- Provides Tier 2 technical support and serves as the escalation point for Help Desk Technicians on complex incidents and service requests.
- Investigates, analyzes, and resolves advanced technical issues involving manufacturing systems, infrastructure, network connectivity, databases, and integrated business applications.
- Performs root cause analysis of recurring incidents, service interruptions, and production-impacting outages by reviewing relevant server, application, network, and manufacturing system logs, and develops corrective and preventive actions to improve reliability.
- Collaborates with Corporate IT, software vendors, infrastructure teams, and third-party support providers to resolve technical issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Identifies potential system, infrastructure, application, and operational issues before they impact production and recommends proactive corrective actions.
- Creates, maintains, and executes queries, reports, and data analysis to support manufacturing, quality, operational, and business requirements.
- Maintains technical expertise in assigned manufacturing and business applications and serves as a subject matter expert for supported systems.
- Supports software implementation, installation, configuration, testing, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
- Coordinates technology-related projects and system enhancements, including planning, testing, implementation, validation, and rollout activities.
- Coordinates external suppliers and service providers, including defining work scopes, scheduling activities, monitoring work progress, and validating completed services.
- Maintains, tracks, and documents system configurations, support procedures, technical documentation, and knowledge base articles.
- Administers and supports Microsoft Windows servers, Microsoft Windows clients, LAN, WAN, switches, routers, virtualization platforms, and related infrastructure.
- Executes and validates data and system backups in accordance with established procedures and supports disaster recovery and business continuity initiatives.
- Administers user access and security permissions in accordance with approved IT policies, cybersecurity standards, and compliance requirements.
- Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge sharing to Help Desk Technicians and other support personnel.
- Promote standardization, knowledge sharing, best practices, and continuous improvement across IT and business functions.
- Respond professionally to employee concerns, suggestions, and operational feedback.
- Demonstrate respectful and professional conduct with co-workers, supervisors, and leadership.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions, contribute constructively, and complete assigned training in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and business objectives.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Information Technology or Information Systems.
- Experience working with vendors, suppliers, and third-party support organizations.
- Working knowledge of SQL queries, database reporting, and data analysis techniques.
- Understanding of IT Service Management concepts including Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, and Service Request Management.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work independently as well as collaboratively with others.
- Demonstrated analytical skills, creative problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Working knowledge of the following:
- HARDWARE
- Administration, maintenance, performance analysis, capacity planning, reliability, availability, and lifecycle management of server infrastructure, virtual environments, and shared storage platforms.
- Planning, implementation, optimization, upgrades, and deployment of manufacturing technology infrastructure and supporting systems.
- Evaluation and recommendation of new hardware technologies and standards.
- SOFTWARE
- Administration and advanced support of manufacturing, business, and enterprise software applications, including ERP (SAP), MES, reporting, and plant-floor systems.
- Software installation, configuration, testing, patch management, and upgrade coordination.
- Database query development, reporting, and data analysis utilizing SQL and related tools.
- Administration of Windows Server operating systems, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and associated enterprise platforms.
- Support of cybersecurity controls, access management, authentication systems, and software compliance requirements.
- TELECOMMUNICATION & OTHER:
- HARDWARE
- Advanced troubleshooting, analysis, support, and optimization of IP-based wired, wireless, manufacturing network, and communications technologies.
- Coordination and management of telecommunications providers and technology suppliers.
- Understanding of system integrations, including EDI, manufacturing system interfaces, and business application data flows.
Preferred Skills and experience:
- Experience with Tier 1 automotive environment (JIT/JIS) processes.
- ITIL certified.
