Description
The customer environment includes on-premises infrastructure, Microsoft Azure IL2 cloud services, Microsoft 365, virtualized infrastructure, data centers, enterprise networks, applications, and end-user services. The successful candidate will provide Tier III engineering and technical escalation support while working closely with Systems Administrators, Network Engineers, Cloud Engineers, Cybersecurity personnel, and Technical Support staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, monitor, troubleshoot, document, and secure enterprise network and systems services, including DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP, HTTP/HTTPS, SSH, LDAP/LDAPS, and SMTP.
- Engineer, administer, maintain, and sustain Microsoft-based enterprise infrastructure and associated services.
- Support physical and virtual server environments and associated enterprise applications.
- Support Microsoft 365 services and their integration with the customer enterprise environment.
- Support virtualized infrastructure, including VMware and virtual desktop technologies.
- Monitor system availability, performance, capacity, reliability, and security and proactively identify potential service degradation.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex server, application, infrastructure, and service issues.
- Implement operating system, server, application, and network-service patches and updates in accordance with applicable IAVA, IAVB, IAVM, operational directives, and cybersecurity requirements.
- Develop and maintain system configurations, engineering documentation, architecture diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical procedures, and other system documentation.
- Develop and maintain backup, restoration, continuity, and disaster-recovery strategies for supported systems.
- Support data-center and cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity requirements.
- Evaluate system lifecycle status and provide recommendations concerning End-of-Life (EOL), End-of-Support (EOS), modernization, and technology refresh.
- Plan and support system upgrades, migrations, integrations, and technology-refresh activities.
- Validate proposed technical solutions and system designs before implementation.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and integration issues involving servers, applications, cloud resources, network services, and enterprise infrastructure.
- Support configuration and change-management processes and ensure technical changes are properly documented.
- Provide Tier III escalation support to Systems Administrators and Technical Support personnel.
- Participate in incident, problem, and root-cause analysis and develop corrective actions for recurring technical problems.
- Develop After Action Reports (AARs), technical findings, lessons learned, and recommendations following significant incidents or system changes.
- Coordinate with Network Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Cybersecurity, RMF/ATO, Knowledge Management, and Technical Support teams.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level systems personnel.
- Must have 8+ years of progressively responsible IT systems engineering, systems administration, or enterprise infrastructure experience.
- Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance.
- Must meet applicable DoD 8140 / DCWF requirements for Work Role 451 at the Advanced proficiency level.
- Demonstrated experience supporting complex DoD, Federal Government, or comparable enterprise IT environments.
- Advanced experience with Microsoft Windows Server environments.
- Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, LDAP/LDAPS, PKI, and enterprise identity/access services.
- Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft 365 enterprise services.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere/ESXi.
- Experience supporting physical and virtual server environments.
- Experience with enterprise backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and business-continuity technologies.
- Experience performing server and application patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Working knowledge of DISA STIGs, IAVM/IAVA requirements, cybersecurity hardening, and DoD configuration-management practices.
- Experience with enterprise monitoring, performance analysis, capacity management, and troubleshooting tools.
- Ability to diagnose complex technical problems spanning servers, applications, network services, virtualization, storage, and cloud infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to develop technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, engineering plans, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related technical discipline.
- Microsoft role-based certification relevant to Windows Server, Azure, or Microsoft 365.
- VMware VCP or equivalent virtualization certification.
- CompTIA Security+, CySA+, CASP+/SecurityX, CISSP, or comparable certification.
- ITIL Foundation or experience working in an ITIL-based service-management environment.
- Experience with ServiceNow or comparable enterprise ITSM/ticketing systems.
- Experience supporting Azure/hybrid-cloud environments.
- Experience with PowerShell and other administrative scripting/automation technologies.
- Previous USMC, Navy, DISA, or DoD enterprise IT experience.
Compensation

The salary range posted for this position represents a reasonable estimate of the expected pay range; however, actual compensation may vary depending on factors such as geographic location, education, certifications, technical skills, relevant experience, knowledge, and overall qualifications. The posted range is intended to reflect the typical salary range for this role within A3T.
