Sierra Space Careers:

At Sierra Space, we build the missions and systems that keep our world secure in the domain above Earth.

Sierra Space team members share a spirit of innovation and collaboration and a belief that we can deliver on the boldest missions in space today. Together with our customers, we aim to safeguard our nation, sustain human presence in space, and secure the freedom of operations in low Earth orbit and beyond.

Our success is measured by the trust of those who rely on what we build and deliver, and our technologies keep the United States and its allies mission-ready throughout space.

We are mission-driven, and together, we are an extraordinary team.

About the Role

As a Test Engineer I at Sierra Space, you will begin your career by contributing to the testing and validation of aerospace systems and components. This entry-level role provides an opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within a supportive team environment. You will assist in the planning, execution, and documentation of verification and validation activities, working closely with more experienced engineers and multi-disciplinary teams.

About You

Our mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. We seek individuals who are passionate about innovating beyond boundaries and relentlessly pursuing solutions that protect, preserve and empower – to join us in this critical mission.

We’re looking for team members who align with our values, mission and goals – while also meeting the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, conducting, and documenting of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for aerospace systems and components.
  • Develop a conceptual understanding of engineering principles and practices, applying them to support testing activities.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary design and development teams, under the guidance of senior engineers, to ensure effective system integration and performance.
  • Utilize schematics, service manuals, test procedures, and logical troubleshooting techniques to support testing activities and resolve routine technical problems.
  • Contribute to the generation and disposition of product non-conformances, ensuring adherence to Product and Quality Assurance principles.
  • Help develop solutions to routine technical problems of limited scope and complexity by leveraging familiarity with engineering and testing principles.
  • Follow instructions from senior engineers and work collaboratively within the team to achieve project goals and milestones.
  • Prepare and document test data, reports, and technical information to support project initiatives and team decision-making.
  • Communicate technical concepts and information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to team members and senior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree).
  • Typically entry-level with 0 - 2 years of experience.
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams. Ability to work in a team and follow instructions from senior engineers.
  • Familiarity with requirements management, system design, and systems integration. Exposure to planning, conducting, and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and exposure to generation and disposition of product non-conformances.
  • Familiarity with schematics, service manuals, test procedures, and logical troubleshooting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with basic engineering software tools and applications related to testing and validation.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply new concepts and methodologies in test engineering.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in aerospace engineering.
  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively convey basic technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to routine technical solutions.

Compensation:

Pay Range:

$73,175.00 - $100,615.25

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.

We also offer a generous benefit package, including medical, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with 150% match up to 6%, life insurance, 3 weeks paid time off, and more.
