About the role
Starr Insurance is seeking an experience Loss Control Manager to oversee and enhance our client service delivery across our U.S. Construction Casualty portfolio. This leader will bring broad industry knowledge, deep loss control expertise, and proven experience managing large accounts and teams.
The ideal candidate will be a generalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment, balancing client needs with resource allocation, while promoting a culture of service excellence within Starr’s Risk Consulting and Loss Control functions.
What You’ll Do
- Actively assume a critical role within the Loss Control team to help deliver value- added services to our internal marketing partners and external clients.
- Lead and mentor risk consulting loss control professionals.
- Manage the account service process for assigned accounts and act as the point of escalation for clients.
- Establish consistent processes, metrics, and best practices for service delivery.
- To oversee the quality and efficiency of loss control services provided to our new business and renewal accounts.
- Partner with underwriters and profit center leaders to showcase Starr’s service capabilities.
- Attend key client meetings.
What We’re Looking For
- 10-15 years of Loss Control experience.
- Proven people management and leadership experience.
- Large Account Service Experience with Account Coordination, Establishing Account Service Plans, Stewardships and Delivering Client Success Stories demonstrating tangible frequency reduction through sound service risk consulting.
- Broad industry knowledge and ability to manage large, complex accounts.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery & Account Management
- Manage service accounts and act as the primary escalation point for service issues raised by internal teams and external clients.
- Partner with Loss Control, ASM, and TPA Oversight leaders to deliver consistent, high-quality service to Starr’s casualty clients.
- Ensure resources are efficiently distributed across accounts, balancing client priorities with team capacity.
- Monitors loss development on the book of business and readily perform and deploy loss control resources where needed to maintain profitability and retention of key accounts.
Governance & Process Development
- Establish clear service delivery processes
- Develop and track metrics/KPIs to evaluate Starr’s service performance.
- Implement best practices to ensure consistency across client engagements.
Leadership & Team Development
- Manage and mentor risk consulting and loss control professionals, ensuring alignment with Starr’s service standards.
- Conduct regular training and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Structure incentives and feedback mechanisms to drive a client-first mindset.
- Responsible for performing training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and providing coaching opportunities; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Client Engagement & Business Development
- Support underwriters and profit center management in promoting Starr’s service capabilities to new and existing clients.
- Attend client-facing meeting as requested to strengthen relationships and reinforce Starr’s value proposition.
- Represent Starr as a trusted partner in risk consulting and loss control.
Qualifications
- 10-15 years of experience in Loss Control, with a track record of managing service delivery for large, complex accounts.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, including direct management of people and resources.
- Broad industry knowledge and ability to serve as a generalist across multiple casualty lines.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and client service skills.
- Vendor management experience a plus.
- Knowledge of IoT and AI technologies in risk management is a plus.
- Ability to travel as needed to attend client and internal meetings, consulting coaching and mentoring visits.
- The complexity and/or size of book of business is significant. Account management experience is preferred. The candidate will generally work as a member of a team but depending on scope of assigned duties and services, may be assigned to his or her own project and/or oversee projects, tasks and training of others within assigned specialty.
- Candidates are typically working towards (or obtained) an advanced degree and/or professional certification in one or more of the following areas: CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM, CFPS, CSP, CIH, CPE, etc., desirable but not required.
- A deep understanding of Product Liability exposures, controls and experience preferred.
