A day in the life:
Join our Pharmacy team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where you'll contribute to managing pharmaceutical operations and ensuring quality compliance for clinical trials and drug products. As a Manager of Pharmacists, you'll provide operational leadership for a Medical Information program while functioning as a Medical Information Pharmacist. You will lead a small team (less than 6) of Medical Information professionals while maintaining responsibility for complex medical information inquiries, pharmacovigilance activities, client partnership, quality oversight, staff development, and continuous operational improvement.

What will you do in this role?

Leads the day-to-day operations of an assigned Medical Information program, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with client contracts, company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and applicable regulatory requirements.

Provides direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for a small team of Medical Information professionals. Supports recruitment, onboarding, training, goal setting, employee development, performance evaluations, and employee engagement.

Functions as a practicing Medical Information Pharmacist by responding accurately and professionally to complex medical and technical inquiries received via telephone, email, web, or other communication channels using approved scientific resources and current medical literature.

Researches, analyzes, and interprets complex medical information to develop evidence-based, scientifically balanced, and client-approved responses for healthcare professionals, patients, and other stakeholders.

Identifies, documents, evaluates, and appropriately triages adverse events, product complaints, and other reportable safety information in accordance with client, regulatory, and company requirements.

Provides consultation and guidance on complex scientific or operational issues to the team.

Performs quality review of Medical Information responses, documentation, and case processing to ensure accuracy, consistency, compliance, and adherence to quality standards.

Develops, implements, and maintains program-specific training materials, competency assessments, and continuing education for team members. Provides ongoing coaching and technical guidance to support staff development.

Monitors operational performance through established productivity, quality, service level, and compliance metrics. Identifies trends, recommends corrective actions, and implements continuous process improvement initiatives.

Serves as the primary operational liaison between clients and internal cross-functional teams, including Quality, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory, Training, Information Technology, and Program Leadership, to resolve operational and clinical issues and support successful program execution.

Prepares operational reports, business metrics, client presentations, and other program documentation to support internal leadership and client governance meetings.

Ensures compliance with all applicable company policies, client requirements, GxP regulations, privacy requirements, and industry standards while promoting a culture of quality, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Assists with workload balancing and resource planning while providing direct Medical Information coverage during periods of increased volume, staff absences, or other business needs to maintain client service commitments.

Participates in client meetings, business reviews, audits, inspections, and implementation of new products, services, or operational initiatives. Provides operational and clinical expertise to support program growth and client satisfaction.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental objectives and organizational priorities.

Hiring requirements:

Education:

PharmD or Bachelors in Pharmacy is required.

In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of a combination of appropriate education, training and/or directly related experience, will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.

Experience:

Previous experience (comparable to 5+ years) in the healthcare or pharmaceutical industry with responsibilities involving counseling or providing medical information to include leadership experience.

1+ years of leadership responsibilities is required.

Active North Carolina pharmacy license is required.

Call center medical information specialist experience is preferred.

Location: Hybrid in the office one day per week, in RTP, NC. Relocation assistance is NOT provided.
