Location: Letchworth
Work Pattern: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £49,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: Monday to Friday, 16:00 - 00:00
Summary of Role
We are looking for an experienced and driven Shift Manager to join our busy Service Centre operation in Letchworth. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven warehouse leader who is comfortable managing large teams within a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining service excellence, operational efficiency, and budgetary performance.
Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, you will take responsibility for the effective management of warehouse operations across your shift, ensuring the safe and efficient receipt, picking, packing, dispatch, and returns processes. You will play a key role in driving performance, developing your team, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Lead and manage warehouse operations across your shift, ensuring all activities are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Deliver operational performance in line with agreed productivity, service, quality, and cost targets.
Manage labour resources effectively to ensure department costs remain within budget.
Monitor and improve key performance indicators, implementing corrective actions where required.
Ensure customer orders are processed and dispatched in line with service level agreements.
Investigate operational issues and customer service concerns, implementing preventative measures to reduce future occurrences.
Develop, coach, and motivate team members and managers to maximise performance and engagement.
Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Good Distribution Practice (GDP), and company operating procedures.

Skills and Knowledge
Previous experience managing managers and leading large operational teams.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
Experience working within a fast-paced warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.
Proven ability to manage operational budgets and control departmental costs.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret operational data and KPIs.
Excellent planning, organisation, and resource management capabilities.
Effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
Good understanding of warehouse operations, productivity improvement, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Desirable
Experience within a healthcare, pharmaceutical, or highly regulated distribution environment.
Knowledge of Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements.
Experience implementing operational improvement initiatives and driving efficiencies across warehouse operations.
