Facility Sr. Fire Protection / ELV Engineer
Job Description
As a Senior Fire Protection / ELV Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning, design coordination, construction management, quality control, commissioning, and project delivery of Fire Protection and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems for facility expansion, renovation, and capital projects.
You will work closely with project teams, facility operations, EHS, IT, IE, ME, QC, Security, consultants, contractors, government authorities and the relevant departments to ensure all systems are delivered safely, reliably, on schedule, on cost and in compliance with applicable regulations, code, insurance, spec and company standards.
Responsibilities
- Fire Protection System Management:
- Lead the planning, design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of fire protection systems for new construction, expansion, retrofit and facility upgrade projects.
- Manage fire alarm, public address, sprinkler, hydrant, water spray, foam, clean agent suppression, smoke exhaust and life safety systems throughout the project lifecycle.
- ELV System Management:
- Lead the planning, design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of ELV systems, including CCTV, access control, security systems, wireless infrastructure systems for new construction, expansion, retrofit and facility upgrade projects.
- Coordinate interfaces between Fire Alarm, Public Address, SCADA, Security, IT Network, Building Management Systems and Operational Technology platforms.
- Construction Execution & Contractor Management
- Manage contractors, suppliers, and construction activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Monitor project safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance.
- Conduct field inspections, technical reviews, construction coordination, issue resolutions to support successful project execution, and ensure on-site work safety.
- Direct and coordinate subcontractor quality, sequence, and progress; verify conformance to shop drawings, method statements, and acceptance criteria.
- Plan look ahead schedules, track progress and performance, and report variances, drive value engineering where appropriate.
- Engineering Review & Compliance
- Review engineering designs, shop drawings, as-built, specifications, material submittals, and construction methods.
- Ensure designs and field work comply with Micron standards and applicable regulations/codes (e.g., Taiwan Fire Code/消防法, NFPA, FM Global).
- Stakeholder Coordination
- Collaborate with Project teams, Operations, EHS, IT, IE, ME, QC, Security, contractor and all relevant departments throughout project development and execution.
- Support risk management, commissioning activities, operational readiness, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and system reliability.
- Resolve interfaces among CSA, ELEC, WTS, G&C, MECH, and eliminate clashes and mitigate schedule risk.
Required Qualifications
- Education
Bachelor's degree or above in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience in Fire Protection, ELV, Facilities Construction, or Industrial Project Engineering.
- Experience managing construction projects in semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, data center, or mission-critical facilities.
- Proven experience managing contractors, and managing fire protection construction projects in semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, data center, or similar industrial environments.
- Experience in project planning, design review, contractor management, construction supervision, function testing, commissioning activities and project delivery.
- Skills
- Strong understanding of Fire Alarm, Sprinkler, Water Spray, Pre-action, Foam, Hydrant, Clean Agent, Smoke Exhaust, VESDA, Public Address, Life Safety, CCTV, Access control, Security, Wireless systems.
- Familiarity with local fire codes, hazardous materials, building regulations, NFPA standards, and FM/UL Global requirements.
- Strong construction management and stakeholder management skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- License
Professional Engineer license or Fire Protection Engineer certification.
• Experienced with generative AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.).
• Able to use AI tools for data organization, report writing, and problem analysis.
• Utilize AI to assist workflows and improve the efficiency of engineering management and project execution.
• Possesses digital mindset and is willing to learn and implement emerging AI technologies in engineering management.
