Job Description
Shape the Future of Japan's Logistics Infrastructure
At Japan GLP, we don't simply develop logistics facilities. We create critical infrastructure that powers supply chains, supports business growth, and sets new standards for sustainability, resilience, and operational excellence.
As one of the world's leading logistics real estate platforms, GLP develops, owns, and operates some of Japan's most advanced logistics facilities, including the landmark ALFALINK developments. Our integrated model allows us to manage the full asset lifecycle, from planning and development through leasing and operations.
We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Facilities Engineer to drive technical excellence across both new developments and an extensive portfolio of operating assets. This role offers a rare opportunity to work on projects of significant scale while influencing engineering strategy, innovation, ESG initiatives, and long-term asset value creation.
Why This Role?
This is not a traditional consulting, design office, or contractor position.
As an owner and developer, you will:
- Influence projects from concept through completion
- Make strategic technical decisions that shape long-term asset performance
- Lead engineering discussions with designers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Drive innovation in energy, sustainability, resilience, and operational efficiency
- Contribute to the development and operation of approximately 170 logistics facilities across Japan
- See your ideas become reality and create measurable business impact
What You'll Do
1. Lead Technical Delivery of New Developments
Drive engineering and technical decision-making throughout the development lifecycle, including:
- Development planning and feasibility studies
- Design strategy and engineering specifications
- Review and optimization of electrical and mechanical systems
- Quality and performance management during construction
- Coordination with external design firms, contractors, and consultants
- Support project delivery from concept design through completion
2. Support Existing Asset Operations
Provide technical leadership to maximize operational performance across GLP's portfolio by:
- Supporting tenant fit-out projects
- Managing renovation and capital improvement initiatives
- Providing engineering solutions for operational challenges
- Enhancing building performance, reliability, and lifecycle value
- Collaborating with asset management and property management teams
3. Develop Future-Focused Engineering Solutions
Play a key role in shaping GLP's engineering and sustainability agenda by leading initiatives related to:
- Energy strategy and optimization
- ESG and decarbonization initiatives
- Building resilience and BCP planning
- Smart building technologies
- Facility innovation and next-generation logistics solutions
What We're Looking For

- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Building services design (electrical and/or mechanical)

- Design management within engineering consulting or design firms
- Construction management services related to building MEP systems
Preferred Experience
- Electrical systems design and supervision experience
- Experience in both design and construction phases

- Knowledge of large-scale industrial, logistics, commercial, or mission-critical facilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Electrical Engineer or related credentials
- Electrical Chief Engineer certification

Who Thrives Here
We're looking for professionals who:
- Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability
- Take initiative and drive improvements proactively
- Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences
- Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Enjoy solving complex challenges and creating practical solutions
- Want to move from advisory roles into a true owner-side position
Career Growth
This role provides a unique opportunity to transition from a contractor, consultant, or design-office perspective into an owner/developer mindset.
You will gain exposure to:
- Large-scale logistics development
- Asset lifecycle management
