Job Title: Assistant Manager - Safety, Health & Environment

Work Location: UniOps Bangalore Centre

The role provides leadership and support in all aspects of SHE & Security Management , like standard setting and enforcing, program definition, compliance checking and reporting for SHE & Security leading & Lagging indicators .

This role works within Bangalore Hub office and closely working with HUL SHE team. The role provides support in all aspects of SHE Management, engaging leadership team in implementing Safe Travel, Office Safety, functioning of SHE Governance, Incident Management, Behavioural Safety, compliance tracking through internal audits (both Unilever and local regulatory requirements) for Bangalore Hub site. The role needs close co-ordination with Site Leadership Team, WPS, HR and Corporate SHE & Security teams. In addition, the person is responsible to lead the security function in Bangalore Hub and responsible for the delivery of the security procedures and implementation of Unilever’s Physical security standards.

This role will ensure our people and assets are protected and ensures the development of the site SHE & security plan. It will also detail security and incident training as part of site LSO responsibilities. In summary, the role supports the ability and capability of Bangalore Hub to enhance safety and security of people working with Bangalore Hub by protecting Unilever’s reputation and brand equity

Your Key Tasks:
1.Implementation of Safety policy & creating awareness at Bangalore Hub
• Aligning and driving safety behaviour of employees and Vendor Partners / Consultants working out of Bangalore Hub. Ensuring Safety induction and proper on-boarding not only of all employees but also for all non-employees / vendor partners working out of Center.
• Ensuring compliance to ITES & Govt. of Karnataka rules w.r.t. safety of Women Employees late stay.
• Ensuring floor roll outs thru Safety Champions to ensure dissemination of safety initiatives.
• Safety Audits of Venues and large Company Events including hotels where focus is on safety & security as per Unilever offsite safety audit guidelines.
• Responsible to drive safety, Health and Environment culture thru events like Safety week and environment day, Campaigns, family day etc, thus helping to improve safety awareness, conducting various health activities. Drive Safety campaigns and Cascading beyond Work Safety initiatives.
• Monitoring the compliance of Safety and Environment related statutory requirements, internal SHE standard and management audit requirements/ Unilever framework standard.
• Organising periodic System Safety Audits / Compliance Audits etc.
• Monitoring contractor management system and work permit system .
• Conducting/organising Induction Training, Mock drill, Fire Fighting training, First Aid training, Emergency preparedness, Job specific training and Defensive Driving training for employees & contractors
• Periodic review of Safety Manuals, Procedures, Risk assessment on site Emergency plan / SOP/ Work Instruction etc.
• Controlling safety budget- prioritizing & utilizing the available resources/budgets to reduce the risk level as per planned budget.
• Risk Analysis - Hazard identification / Critical Task Inventory (CTI) / Task Hazard Analysis (THA) / Location Hazard Analysis (LHA) / Environment Hazard Analysis (EHA)/ Route Risk Analysis
• Time to time communication of OPL and SHE & security comms.
• Cover new 3P drivers thru 4-Wheeler practical defensive driving training as per Unilever safe travel policy and ensuring roadworthiness of vehicle used for business. Vendor risk assessment and route risk assessment.
• Encage with builder for common area related safety concerns and mitigation of safety concerns.
• Digitizing Safety reporting, monitoring & learning modules.

2.Safety Standards
• You should be aware of Safety requirements as per Unilever Standards & Local requirements.
• Implementing & monitoring the OHS & EC Framework Standards, Road safety standards, electrical safety standards, contractor safety standards, Management of Change standards, Personnel Change management standard, Access control system, efficient functioning of Fire Alarm & PA System, PPE standards etc & all other relevant Unilever SHE standards
• Train people to create awareness of the requirements of relevant standards.
• Be a change agent and influence leaders on safe behaviors

3.Monitor Performance
• Ensure reporting of all KPIs to Unilever/ Corporate Safety. Safety leading Index, performance monitoring and reporting .
• Monitor the SHE & Security deviations and the reasons recorded along with mitigation plan.
• Trigger escalation process when required on SHE & Security.
• Safety leading Index, performance monitoring & reporting .
• Track legal and regulatory compliance with respect to SHE & Security.
• Ensure audit schedule compliance and track audit gaps for closure.

4.Reporting Process
• Compilation of data and Reports for Safety and Security
• Tracking KPIs’- As per corporate safety guideline and improve the safety culture at Bangalore Hub Bangalore.
• Reporting and conducting RCA of Incidents and Accidents, ensuring reporting in SHEnet & OS/EPR /APR portals and implementation of action plans.
• Track KPI trends for Bangalore Hub and highlight ‘call for action’
• Responsible for preparation of reports for both internal and external stakeholders

5.Incident Management
• Work closely with Bangalore Hub LT as part of local IMT during crisis situations.
• Support site BCP coordinator.
• Time to time update on SHE & security alerts to IMT/ Site LT & Safety wardens.
• Play active role in taking part in investigation and in reviewing investigation reports.
• Track gap closure of all actions generated out of investigations (through Investigation Management tool)
• Provides support for business initiatives/projects to ensure any potential Safety and Security risks are identified and mitigated appropriately.

6.Sustainability
• Plan & lead Energy & water conservation projects (Workplace Sustainability).
• Closely working with other India offices for supporting EPR and queries related with reporting .
• Plan Sustainability Capex and drive projects.
• Submission of statutory returns to Karnataka pollution control board.
• Updating EX sustainability dashboard.
• Waste Management

7.Security Programs
• Closely working with HUL regional Security Team and support Bangalore Hub to design and monitors Security Framework.
• Track security leading indicators and global monitoring through SIRENS portal, APR and annual Security PAR.
• Implementing Security SLAs and APR while maintaining balance of operational convenience.
• Conduct security review in line with Unilever security (ULS) guidelines and continuous improvement by implementing ULS guidelines.
• Security advisor to site leadership team and point of contact for security related matters
• Work with Site LT and Country CSO to analyse security threats and risks to our people and business.
• Play site Local Security Officer Role (LSO) and implement security mitigation plans to establish relevant countermeasures and escalate where required.
• Work with travel teams to communicate security advice to travellers operating in high-risk countries and cities
• Coordinate and deliver security capability training required by employees, security teams and 3P partners
• Possess contractual assessment skills to review security contracts.

8.Work with Teams
• Connects cross-functionally within Bangalore Hub(Different service lines, WPS,HR, Legal etc.) to ensure awareness of Safety and Security Standards through campaigns and events.
• Dive and take active part in site IMT and USHEC meetings.
• Global Best Practices awareness & implementation

Skills and Experience
• University degree in general sciences or technical discipline
• Minimum 6 to 8 year of relevant experience in SHE.
• Safety expertise in Operations and working knowledge on Non-Make SHE & Security.
• Additional certification in SHE & Security is preferred.
• Cross functional Influencing.
• Ability to work independent in a virtual environment
