Description

Under general supervision, performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Town assets including but not limited to roadways, parks, and facilities. May specialize or otherwise participate in such trades as carpentry, painting, plumbing, irrigation, electrical and/or heating and air conditioning. Maybe responsible for performing foreman duties on assigned projects. Reports to Assistant Director, Division Supervisor or designee.
- Graduation from High School.
- One (1) or more years of experience in general building and grounds maintenance, general construction or mechanical trades, with special training and certification.
REQUIRED
- Possession of a valid Class "E" Florida Driver's License.
- Experience in general maintenance and equipment operation is preferred.
- A valid Class "A" or "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL), issued by the State of Florida.
- Pesticide Application License
- Public Applicator License from the State of Florida or Department of Agriculture
- Plumbing License
- State of Florida Journeyman Plumbing License
- HVAC Certification
- Competencies from an accredited institution (See "i.e." above)
- Electrical License
- State of Florida Journeyman Electrician License
- State of Florida CDL Class B License -
- Can utilize CDL for ten (10) hours or less per week
- Stormwater Certifications
- Stormwater Operator Certification, Level 2 from Florida Stormwater Association
- Stormwater, Erosion & Sedimentation Control Inspector from Florida Stormwater Association
- Landscaping Certifications
- Arborist Certification, International Society of Arboriculture
- Landscape Inspector, Landscape Inspectors Association of Florida
- Playground Certification
- Certified Playground Safety Inspector License from National Recreation and Park Association
- Limited Urban Commercial Fertilizer Applicator Certification (LF or fertilizer license)

Assists in the maintenance and repair of electrical, refrigeration, heating and air conditioning systems.
Assists in the replacement of Faulty switches, sockets, plugs, fuses, insulators and other minor electrical work; assists in major electrical or heating and air conditioning projects.
Hangs sheetrock, lays tile, sands, paints or stains walls, pressure cleans, woodwork, cabinets, tables and other wooden articles.
Performs semi skilled work in the installation and maintenance of roads, drainage infrastructure, sidewalks and multipurpose trails.
Operates small or large trucks, small or large tractors and other mechanized equipment including but not limited to street rollers and skid-steer loaders.
Performs grounds and facility maintenance work, such as mowing, weed control, litter removal, fertilizing, pruning, and planting.
Operates mowers, tractors and various powered equipment ,i.e. chainsaws, weed-eaters, blowers and power pruners.
Receives and documents (including taking pictures of before, during and after) completion of work orders electronically in the asset management and work order system.
Requests or purchases supplies as needed; may interact with outside vendors.
Transports and moves furniture and equipment.
Prints, assembles and erects signs and banners.
Performs foreman duties on assigned tasks as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.

- Schedule: 4 day work week - 10 hour days (Monday-Thursday)
- Leave:
- Holidays – 13 days per year
- Sick Leave – 3.69 hours accrued per pay period
- Vacation Leave – Accrue 2 weeks per year, accrual rate increases every 5 years (capped at 4 weeks after 10 years of service).
- Birthday Leave – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation
- Quality Service – 1 day per year after successfully passing probation and other conditions.
- Wellness Days – 2 days per year after successfully passing probation.
- Pension/Retirement:
- Town Sponsored Pension – mandatory 3% contributions per pay period.
- 457 Deferred Compensation Plan- Employee is entitled to make voluntary contributions through the payroll to the Town sponsored 457 deferred compensation plan only.
