Description
Who we are and what you’ll do
The ideal candidate is
We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, audio technology, and product quality.
You have a strong engineering mindset, deep curiosity about how complex systems behave, and practical experience testing audio software in real-world environments. You are comfortable working close to the code, designing robust test automation, debugging across software and hardware boundaries, and helping teams build products that are reliable, observable, and easy to validate.
At HOLOPLOT, software is central to the design, configuration, deployment, monitoring, and operation of sound systems.
Our show production team has been working on a wide range of audio applications/plugins for immersive audio content production that will work hand in hand with our sound system. Testing such applications and plugins requires more than checking whether features work. It requires an understanding of signal flow, timing, synchronization, real-time constraints, interoperability, and how audio systems fail in practice. It also requires creating representable mocks and setups that are effective, economical, and maintainable.
Main objectives of the role
Your role and responsibilities
As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test in this team, you will partner closely with software engineers and product designers to define test strategies, build automation, and validate complex workflows across desktop applications, audio plugins, networked audio systems, and spatial audio features. You will develop automated, scalable test frameworks, explore test infrastructure, and increase confidence in release cycles.
You will work on both black-box and white-box testing approaches, depending on the problem: from backend-driven end-to-end tests to signal-analysis-based tests, UI validation, and system-level regression tests.
You will help integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve the reliability, runtime, debuggability, and maintainability of the test suite.
You will create test tools that make it easier to automatically capture, analyze, compare, and validate audio behavior.
You will help teams move from manual validation toward reproducible, deterministic, and observable test workflows.
What you need to succeed in this role
Your skills and qualifications
A proven track record as a Software Development Engineer in Test, or Software Engineer with a strong focus on quality and automation.
Professional experience in the audio industry, preferably overlapping with the following fields: desktop audio applications, audio plugins, Audio-over-IP, spatial audio and immersive sound experience, embedded audio systems.
Strong programming skills in at least one general-purpose language such as Python.
Knowledge of C++ with a wish to learn more.
Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks, integration tests, end-to-end tests, and CI-based validation workflows.
A good understanding of digital audio fundamentals.
Experience testing desktop applications, in all major platforms.
Experience with audio plugin testing.
Good understanding of software architecture, testability, observability, and maintainable engineering practices.
Strong communication skills in English. You can explain technical risks, test strategies, and failure modes clearly to developers, product stakeholders, and non-specialists.
An eye for detail, a tad of perfectionism, a can-do mentality, and the courage to take on new challenges
A mindset of curiosity and excellence
Positive vibes and desire to contribute to a productive and collegial working environment
Nice to haves
Experience with networked audio or real-time network protocols is highly valuable, especially AES67, Ravenna, Dante, RTP, PTP, multicast, or related technologies.
Experience with spatial audio technologies.
Experience testing multi-channel audio systems or large-scale professional audio installations.
We offer you
At HOLOPLOT we work in a flexible hybrid setup with trust-based working hours, giving you the freedom to organise your day in a way that supports focus, deep work and balance. Pay is competitive and fair, and we offer perks and benefits such as subsidised public transport, lunch allowances, Urban Sports and a company pension scheme.
You’ll join an international, open-minded team across software, hardware, product and research, in an environment with plenty of autonomy and ownership. You’ll work on cutting-edge audio technology, turn complex requirements into working solutions and contribute to global projects, with support for your growth through individual development plans, mentoring and coaching.
