About PwC SATIC and the role
PwC’s South African Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC) supports global PwC teams by delivering essential compliance and risk management services. As part of the SATIC Privacy Team, you will play a key role in helping PwC UK meet its legislative and regulatory obligations under data protection law. The
team’s work is critical to maintaining client trust and upholding PwC’s reputation for ethical and compliant business practices.
Summary:
The Privacy Associate will join a dynamic team responsible for supporting PwC UK’s compliance with data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR and related laws. The primary focus is on managing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), which involves gathering, reviewing, redacting, and providing
personal data to individuals in accordance with legal requirements and exemptions. The role offers opportunities to expand into broader privacy and compliance functions, such as handling deletion requests, vendor due diligence, and supporting business continuity initiatives
Qualifications /Certifications required:
• Degree-level education (preferably in law, or a related subject)
• Strong understanding of data protection laws (e.g., UK or EU GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018,
or POPI)
• Willingness to undertake data protection and privacy-related training and upskill on changes to
privacy law and industry practice
• Desirable: Legally qualified, privacy accreditations (e.g., IAPP CIPP/E)
Experience required:
• Experience applying data protection and/or DSAR processes is desirable
• Experience in compliance, risk management, or legal environments is advantageous
• Experience working in an offshore or virtual team is a plus
• Familiarity with eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity) is desirable
Responsibilities of role:
• Assist with the timely response to and delivery of Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) and erasure requests
• Collate, export, and disclose responses to data subjects
• Conduct high-volume document reviews to identify personal data
• Redact third-party and non-disclosable data in line with UK GDPR
• Recommend application of legal redactions as appropriate
• Arrange and attend calls with key internal stakeholders
• Work closely with PwC UK’s Privacy Team and provide timely updates
• Manage varying workloads with time pressures
• Update trackers as appropriate
• Support additional privacy and compliance functions as the role evolves, including:
• Administering ICO registrations for PwC entities
• Supporting reviews of PwC UK’s Record of Processing Activity (RoPA)
• DPIA reviews
• Reviewing engagement applications and escalating privacy queries
• Supplier due diligence
• Adhoc project support
