Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Vehicle Mechanics to perform maintenance, repair and modifications on FMTV 10 Ton Dump Trucks. This role is hands-on and requires experience with fabrication techniques, and a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance. The ideal candidate will be safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and capable of interpreting technical drawings to complete precision modifications on various truck assemblies.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
- Measure and mark materials for cutting or alteration using hand tools and layout instruments.
- Ensure accuracy and vehicle integrity of modifications and repairs.
- Assist in assembling, fitting, and securing steel parts in place using various means (bolts, clamps, etc.).
- Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
- Communicate with supervisors and engineers regarding job progress, issues, or design changes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training in vehicle maintenance is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with FMTV 10 Ton Dump Trucks or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency in using power tools and measuring devices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with truck assembly or automotive chassis modification is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus but not required.
Work Environment:
- Indoor/outdoor shop setting with exposure to noise, heat, sparks, and heavy equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
- Occasional overtime or weekend work depending on project deadlines.
- Must be flexible and willing to perform additional tasks that are assigned by the supervisor in ensuring successful completion of the program.
