Outbound & 3PL Warehouse Supervisor
The Outbound & 3PL Warehouse Supervisor plays a pivotal role in driving the pulse of logistics operations and plays a key role in the fulfillment of customer orders.
This position is responsible for leading safe, efficient, and high-quality outbound logistics operations, from finished goods exiting the production lines through warehousing, staging, and loading for distribution. The role also oversees the performance of the third-party logistics (3PL) warehouse provider, ensuring operational excellence, inventory integrity, and compliance with Shell's HSSE and quality standards.
Through effective management of plant outbound logistics and 3PL warehouse activities, the supervisor drives continuous improvement initiatives, enhances operational performance, and supports the achievement of key business objectives, including Customer OTIF, Logistics OTIF, Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI), and overall supply chain excellence.
Dimensions:
Leads plant outbound warehouse team including Shift Leaders, Forklift Drivers, and Operators.
Oversee daily logistics activities across both the plant and the 3PL warehouse facility.
Operates through a regular site rotation model between the plant and 3PL warehouse sites to ensure effective operational oversight, alignment, and performance management.
Key Accountabilities
HSSE & Compliance
Ensure that all warehousing activities are performed in compliance with Safe Warehouse Operation standards (SWOP) and local regulations.
Create and cultivate a safe working environment by identifying safety opportunities in outbound and 3PL operations.
Lead by example through the promotion of good health, compliance with all safety procedures and business principles and reporting of all hazards, incidents and near misses.
Conduct safety audit and spot checks at 3PL locations and assist with other HSSE issues as required.
Ensure Logistics compliance with all local and legislative standards.
Ensure products are stored and handled in accordance with Lubricants’ Quality Management System.
Actively demonstrate the Shell values of Safety, Integrity, Sustainability, Inclusion, and responsibility at all times.
Performance Management & Continuous Improvement
Drive safe, cost-effective, and efficient warehouse operations while minimizing waste and optimizing resources.
Manage 3PL performance through KPI monitoring, SLA governance, and regular performance reviews.
Support Customer OTIF, Logistics OTIF, and CSI targets through performance tracking, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives, process simplification, and automation to enhance operational performance.
Develop and maintain logistics tools, dashboards, and reporting to provide actionable business insights.
Ensure customer order fulfillment, inventory integrity, reverse logistics, and returns management in line with company standards.
Manage logistics budgets and 3PL payments while maintaining HSSE, quality, and operational excellence standards.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions.
Support Contract Holder, collaborating with third-party warehouse providers to ensure compliance with contract terms, including pricing, service levels, and performance metrics.
Monitor performance and conduct monthly performance meeting and quarterly business performance meeting.
Set Up robust processes with 3P to manage inventory, inbound/outbound operations.
Continuously explore opportunities to extract contract value through operational excellence
Inventory Management & Control
Responsible for inventory management to ensure any existing and developing issues with regards to proper stocks management are timely addressed and Shell standard procedures are strictly followed.
Ensure inventory controls are well implemented with 3PL Warehouse, in compliance Shell’s Inventory and Valuation Policy and Outbound warehousing Policy, i.e. Cycle Count, Wall to Wall Counts
Manage inventory health and minimize blocked and dead stocks.
Ensure accuracy of inventory and movements through the interface with 3PL system and manage the inventory reconciliation as per Shell Policy.
Monitor and control daily inventory transactions and conduct regular inventory checks.
Manage the wall-to-wall inventory and end of year counts as per Shell Policy.
Review on periodic basis warehouse space availability, plan and implement changes to support business needs and ensure cost-efficiency.
OpEx Management:
Support Logistics Manager in delivering T&R OpEx targets.
Closely monitor monthly spend and take measures to maintain cost within plan.
Responsible for submitting monthly accruals.
Reduce Logistics Waste through Continuous Improvement initiatives and Fit 4 initiatives.
Manage spend on Ad Hoc and Value-Added Services.
Participate in annual T&R exercise.
IT Systems
Ensure Electronic Data Interface is established between Shell GSAP and 3rd party WMS in accordance to EDI Guidelines.
Responsible for monitoring system health and escalating any system issues with Shell IT and maintaining necessary Business Continuity Plans in event of system failure.
Experience & Qualifications
In addition to strong leadership capabilities and business acumen, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
3-5 years of experience in Logistics, Supply Chain, Warehousing, or a related field.
Proven experience in warehouse and logistics operations, inventory management, contractor supervision, and 3PL management.
Strong track record of delivering operational excellence, continuous improvement, cost optimization, and customer service outcomes.
Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data and insights to drive performance improvements and informed decision-making.
Experience managing stakeholders across multiple functions and external service providers.
Knowledge of HSSE, quality, inventory control, and warehouse management best practices.
Experience working with ERP and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is preferred.
