POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of this job is to oversee the daily operations of the shipping department, plan/setup/ prepare shipments of materials, components, and finished goods to customers, internally, and third-party vendors/warehouses. This position will be key in supporting monthly forecast targets and providing day-to-
day feedback on production scheduling. This position will monitor incoming shipments of materials and components and plan for production scheduling and storage accordingly.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Coaching and day-to-day guidance to shipping team members.
· Review of backlog on daily basis.
· Planning of shipments to ensure the highest on time delivery possible.
· Collaboration with Operations on production scheduling, be proactive, and provide feedback in scheduling to ensure inventory for upcoming shipments.
· Provide training for new shipping team members.
· Prepare and submit export paperwork for international shipments.
· Review documentation/shipment and planning paperwork.
· Set up and prepare products for shipments.
· Safely move product with forklift(s) around warehouse and on/off trucks.
· Resolve discrepancies with other departments relative to shipping issues.
· Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment needed to perform job.
· Ensure continuity of shipping operations during absences by training backup personnel and effectively delegating shipping duties to maintain on-time and accurate product shipments.
· Safely operate fork trucks and pallet jacks. Conduct preshift inspections on such equipment, notify maintenance or outside contractor of any issues.
· Participate in maintaining ISO Certification and LEAN Kaizen events.
· Receive in items and components physically and within the company ERP system.
· Utilize computers for entering information into ERP systems, emails, labels, and communicating with customers, vendors and team members.
· Positive Interactions with truck drivers and other externally facing customers, suppliers, and vendors.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
· Required: High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
· Experience training with fork trucks and pallet jacks.
· Basic computer skills, emails, word, excel documents are needed and ability to learn a warehouse ERP system are required.
· Former warehouse experience preferred.
· Ability to become forklift certified, if not already, is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
· Ability to lift, push, and move 45 lbs.
· Ability to work with hand tools.
· Ability to bend, move between equipment, and aisles of product.
· Ability to drive a sit down and stand up forklift safely and efficiently.
· Ability to stand and move around production facility throughout entire shift if needed.
· Ability to sit at desk and conduct computer work for extended periods of time if needed.
