Verdantas is seeking a Geotechnical Engineering Staff I to support subsurface investigations, geotechnical inspections, and construction projects throughout the New York, New Jersey, and tri-state region. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to gain hands-on field and consulting experience.
What You'll Do
- Perform soil sampling and subsurface investigations, including Standard Penetration Testing (SPT).
- Classify and document soil conditions and maintain accurate field records.
- Support geotechnical special inspections, pile observations, and earthwork monitoring.
- Prepare boring logs, field reports, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with project managers, drilling crews, technicians, and engineering staff.
- Assist with technical reports, CAD drafting, and geotechnical data management.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
- 1-2 years of geotechnical or related field experience.
- Knowledge of soil sampling and classification methods.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Basic experience with CAD and geotechnical software preferred.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
Preferred
- Experience with NYC DOB Special Inspections.
- Familiarity with rock coring or RQD logging.
- Flexibility to work occasional nights, weekends, and extended field assignments.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work outdoors on active construction sites.
- Willingness to travel as project needs require.
Salary Range:
The starting salary for this position is $70,000, with final compensation determined based on qualifications and licensing status.
