About the position
Chevron ENGINE has an exciting opportunity for a Process Control Engineer to join the Facilities Process Engineering team. Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, this role will be based in Chevron’s office in Bengaluru.

The Process Control Engineer provides technical support, analysis, and documentation for process control systems in renewable diesel assets to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The role supports site Process Control Engineers, Operations, and Engineering teams through alarm management, controller performance monitoring, PID loop troubleshooting, control strategy reviews, Management of Change (MOC) support, and process control improvement recommendations.

Provide high-quality remote engineering support from the ENGINE office for site process control priorities. Help sustain safe and reliable operations by identifying control performance gaps, alarm issues, documentation needs, and improvement opportunities. Develop clear technical recommendations that support site-owned decisions and comply with applicable standards, procedures, and change control requirements. Improve consistency, follow-up, and documentation quality across assigned process control work activities.

Chevron ENGINE supports global operations, and work hours are aligned to business needs. Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday to Friday. These may evolve based on operational or business requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Alarm management support: Assist with alarm rationalization, alarm KPI review, bad actor alarm identification, alarm documentation, operator response validation, and alarm lifecycle sustainment activities.

  • Controller performance monitoring: Review controller utilization and identify control loops not operating in the highest practical mode. Recommend actions to improve controller effectiveness, stability, and operator interaction.

  • PID loop troubleshooting and tuning support: Support troubleshooting of loop performance issues, review process data, identify potential tuning or configuration concerns, and document practical improvement recommendations.

  • Control strategy reviews: Review and validate control narratives, cause-and-effect logic, interlock interactions, operating envelopes, controller configurations, and process control documentation.

  • MOC and change control support: Support process control-related MOCs by preparing technical input, identifying affected documentation, defining test and validation needs, and supporting closure of assigned documentation updates.

  • Control system modification support: Support control logic changes, configuration updates, testing, validation, and implementation planning under the direction of the appropriate site owner or approval authority.

  • Documentation and knowledge management: Prepare clear redlines, technical notes, marked-up control documents, review comments, action trackers, and handover summaries to support site execution and future sustainment.

  • Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve alarm performance, controller utilization, control strategy robustness, process stability, operator effectiveness, and engineering work processes.
