Description
Job summary:
Seeking an experienced Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) to oversee safety operations for construction activities at Fort Hood. The SSHO will ensure compliance with OSHA, USACE, EM 385-1-1, project specifications, and site safety requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage daily site safety and conduct jobsite inspections.
- Implement and maintain the project APP and AHAs.
- Conduct safety orientations, toolbox talks, and safety meetings.
- Monitor subcontractors, PPE, housekeeping, and safe work practices.
- Oversee high-risk activities including excavation, fall protection, confined space, electrical, crane/rigging, and heavy equipment operations.
- Investigate incidents and near misses and maintain safety documentation.
- Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions.
- Work directly with project management and government/USACE representatives.
Qualifications:
- Construction safety experience with knowledge of OSHA and EM 385-1-1.
- USACE, federal, or military construction experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of hazard recognition, inspections, and safety documentation.
- Must possess applicable safety certifications and be able to meet Fort Hood access requirements.
