Are you organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with confidential information? Join our team as a Health Information Clerk and play an important role in keeping accurate, complete, and timely patient records.

The primary focus of this position is transcribing provider progress notes and other patient-related documentation, ensuring that important clinical information is accurately entered and maintained in the electronic medical record (EMR). You'll also support the Health Information and Quality teams with medical records, Release of Information requests, data entry, and other activities that help ensure the accuracy, privacy, and compliance of patient information.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys focused computer-based work, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in getting things right.

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe provider documentation and other patient-related information accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate medical records by scanning, uploading, organizing, and entering patient information into the EMR.
  • Review medical records for accuracy and completeness and identify information that may need correction or follow-up.
  • Process Release of Information requests in accordance with agency policies and applicable state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare patient and provider correspondence and other documentation as needed.
  • Review and assist with resolving EMR claim-related issues in coordination with the Billing Department.
  • Conduct assigned record and compliance reviews using established forms and review tools.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements and agency policies.
  • Provide occasional support to the front desk, including greeting patients, answering phones, and assisting with communications, as needed.
  • Participate in required training, meetings, and agency activities.

  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive patient information.

Preferred:

  • One year of medical office or healthcare experience.
  • Experience working with an electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Experience with medical transcription or clinical documentation.

What You'll Need to Be Successful

The right person for this role is detail-oriented, dependable, organized, and comfortable spending much of the workday on a computer. Accuracy matters here. You'll need to be able to recognize inconsistencies, follow established processes, protect confidential information, and stay focused when working with detailed patient documentation.

This position involves extended periods of sitting and computer use, frequent keyboarding, and occasional lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
