The Opportunity
We are looking for a detail-oriented GIS Analyst I to join our team. In this role, you'll build, maintain, and analyze the geospatial data that powers leasing, drilling, production, and operational decisions across the company. It's a strong fit for someone early in their GIS career who takes pride in accurate maps and clean data, and who enjoys partnering with colleagues across the business to turn spatial information into practical answers.
Location
This position is based at our Morgantown, WV headquarters on a hybrid schedule — in the office Tuesday through Thursday, with Monday and Friday worked from a home office. Occasional field or site visits should be expected as projects require.
What You'll Be Doing
- Generate maps, figures, reports, and database queries to support leasing, production, drilling, and operational activities.
- Create, update, maintain, and refine geospatial datasets, attributes, layers, file structures, and naming conventions.
- Perform routine spatial analysis and queries to support decision-making across departments.
- Manage and integrate external data sources to enhance GIS projects, reporting, and data accuracy.
- Support end users by responding to routine GIS requests, troubleshooting issues, and helping resolve data discrepancies.
- Perform quality control checks to maintain geodatabase integrity and ensure compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to provide GIS support for projects and initiatives.
- Research and compile information to keep GIS data current, accurate, and useful for business needs.
- Stay current on GIS tools, practices, and process improvements that enhance efficiency and expand team capabilities.
- Demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, and a collaborative approach while adapting to changing priorities.
Your Background
- Associate degree in GIS or related field preferred; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 2 years of GIS experience within the Oil and Gas Industry
- Foundational knowledge of GIS software, including ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro.
- Understanding of geodatabase creation, maintenance, editing, and spatial data management.
- Strong cartographic skills with the ability to design clear, accurate, and professional maps and presentations.
- Ability to perform basic spatial analysis, queries, and data validation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with data, reports, and mapping outputs.
- Effective organizational, time management, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across departments and support a wide range of business needs.
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in GIS applications and tools.
- Ability to work in an office environment with occasional field or site visits and operate standard office and computer equipment.
